‘The Newsroom’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Supernatural’ alum gets two-episode guest spot
Have you been loving Kevin’s character on “Supernatural” this season? He’s been a delightful dose of humor at times, and also a serious / tragic part of the story at other points.
While we had some good news here to talk about when it comes to him, this is really more about “The Newsroom”, and his mom. (Nope! We’re not setting up a juvenile “your mama” joke here.) As first claimed by The Hollywood Reporter, Lauren Tom (who is also known for her voice-acting work on “Futurama”) has been booked for a two-episode arc on Aaron Sorkin’s super-talky HBO favorite. As for who she will be playing? This is probably the least surprising news out there: She will be related to the newsroom! Specifically, she will be playing Kathy Ling, an expert who has worked on decision night as some sort of election analyst.
When you consider that this show runs close to a year behind real-time, you cannot be surprised at all that this would be one of the major themes of the season. Last year, the show was still bogged down in the Republican primaries, and now, they will be sending out people (in particular Jim) to be playing a major part in the campaign coverage. All of the show’s cast from the first season will be back, with there being more romance, drama at the network, and even a few funny moments to boot. (Hopefully, Will McAvoy will also give some of the show’s critics a verbal beat-down like he did to the “sorority girl” during the pilot.)
