’24’ revival: How much of Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer will we see?
You can call it what you will: Networks being lazy, people wanting to much of the same thing. To be honest, we just don’t care. We just like the idea of getting more of “24” after so many years off of the air.
Let’s start with the obvious news that “Touch” is canceled, so Kiefer Sutherland has a little bit more room in his schedule for a few more hours of Jack Bauer’s life at some point in the coming months. Look at the benefits this way for Fox in that this is a move to bring back an established franchise for a while, and run it to either boost a new series, or simply give fans a little bit more of what they want after those movie plans fell apart like an Oreo in a glass of milk. Why not give this a go, and give Jack Bauer fans more closure? After all, this can’t be any worse than some of the later episodes of “24.”
Entertainment Weekly is reporting now that the network is strongly looking at a 12-episode order, which would air at some point in the fall or the spring. We will find out tomorrow, which is when their upfront presentation will be held. When could it start? One temptation could be to premiere it after the Super Bowl, as Fox does have it this year. However, If we were them we would go with “The Following,” “New Girl,” or something that you’re going to have for a while longer. We wouldn’t it mind it coming on this fall alongside “Bones,” and give the show a worthy companion that it did not have in “The Mob Doctor.”
We know you’re amped up about this and totally understand. With that in mind, stay tuned, and the best thing you can do right now is just bookmark this link to read more fall TV updates whatever hour of the day you want.
