‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 6 spoilers: A ‘Deadwood’ alum and the art of seduction
We have some of the first major casting news now for “Sons of Anarchy” season 6, and if you are a fan of “Deadwood,” this may be enough to have you embarrassingly “squee” all over the place.
In news first reported by TVLine, Kim Dickens has been cast for the upcoming role in FX’s domain-of-all-things-gritty-and-awesome as Colette Jane, a madame / master of seduction who is going to cross paths with a pair of male characters who have a great deal of “experience” in the escort business: Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Nero (Jimmy Smits). Let’s get the ironic comments over with right now about how Dickens is playing a character that is at least somewhat similar in profession to her “Deadwood” role, along with any and all Charles Dickens jokes about how it is always the best of times for anyone to get a chance to have these two shows on their resume.
“Sons of Anarchy” has to start announcing some of their new players for the season soon, unless executive producer Kurt Sutter, arguably the coolest showrunner around when it comes to fan interaction, decides to pull a 180 and clam up like Matthew Weiner of “Mad Men.” Since that’s not going to happen (even if Sutter is nice enough to keep all spoilers related to plot a secret), we expect some more names to hit the interwebs in the next few weeks given that production starts in the Los Angeles area this month.
Some other names set to return for this season, just in case you’ve been too busy actually riding bikes to read the news lately, include Drea de Matteo (Wendy) and Donal Logue (Lee Toric).
Want to know how this casting news first came to pass? That’s an interesting story in itself, as Sutter explains to you, kind viewer, in the video here about why he allows outlets to break casting news rather than just disclosing it himself.
