‘Real Housewives of New York City’ want raises, will Bravo oblige?
Want to know what you have in common with the “Real Housewives of New York City” cast? Well, you probably also want more money to stay at your job.
Granted, you are probably going about it in another way (i.e. complaining to your pals) than what the ladies of Bravo are doing, which could end up costing them their jobs at the end of the day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, all of the ladies, from Ramona Singer on to Sonja Morgan, are in a very nasty negotiation with the network. Production is already late on season 6, and they are all asking for more money in order to take part in what is not exactly the network’s highest-rated series. As a matter of fact, viewers migrated away from the show last year like it was the first season of “Smash.” (Too soon?)
Well, Bravo has already made it clear that these ladies are not getting any more money, and they will outright cancel the show on Friday if the offer on the table is not accepted. Yep, they can do that: They already have versions of the show in New Jersey, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Orange County, and Miami, and they could easily pick one up in Las Vegas, Dallas, or Houston as a replacement if they really wanted. Heck, they could just cast all new women and call it “The Real Housewives of Manhattan.”
The other thing the ladies are forgetting here, is that they don’t really make the money from Bravo for this show. Instead, it’s about the product lines, promotional appearances, and magazines that they sell. Do you think that Bethenny Frankel was living off of this salary alone? Instead, she was well on her way to create a replica of the Death Star made entirely out of Skinnygirl cocktails.
We don’t have a source on the inside here, but it is interesting that this negotiation is happening not long after it was announced that NeNe Leakes is making $1 million for her upcoming season on the Atlanta-set version of the show. Speaking of which, it looks like many of those women are getting set to come back for more.
