ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5, episode 23 review: Beckett’s opportunity = finale drama?
So where does Kate Beckett see herself in the future? This was a question that was asked at the end of Monday night’s “Castle” season 5 episode, and thanks to this, it appears as though the stakes are set for what should be an extremely dramatic season finale airing on ABC next week.
There was not much about the case for the week that really matters much in the grand scheme of things, as it revolved around a missile drone, a murder, and a massive amount of government conspiracy. Of course, Castle took advantage of this opportunity to start rambling on about how this could be the new rise of the machines, and Beckett did her best to smartly try and ignore him, since it was pretty clear that this was going nowhere.
What is a little bit different, however, was the stunning news that broke at the end of the episode: Beckett has quite the job offer waiting for her in DC if she wants it, where she could be working directly under the Attorney General on a series of difficult cases that go beyond your traditional brand of homicide. Why didn’t she talk to Castle about it? The only reason that we can think is that she still does not have much of an idea where this relationship is going just yet. Castle is not opening up to her about serious subjects, and now she is technically doing the same thing.
Suffice it to say that all of this is probably going to bubble up on the surface soon, and our guess is that things are going to be pretty ugly when that happens.

very weak episode. no character involvement, beckett didn;t even look at castle. her facial expressions thru season 4 were classic but have been lacking this year. maybe they’re ready to end this series. stana doesn’t seem as motivated actorwise- maybe it’s just me.
