‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: Matt Czuchry on Cary’s big change

The Good WifeWhere does the story go from here on “The Good Wife”? As the hit CBS series enters its fifth season in the fall, there are clearly a number of unanswered questions. For one, are we really going to have an opportunity to see Peter in action as the new Governor? This is a role that will clearly change his life forever, along with his relationship with Alicia.

In speaking of Julianna Margulies’ character, we also have to ask just how much of her life will shift now courtesy of her starting up a new firm with Cary. This is something that he in particular has been hoping for, and her move to join him surprised many.

So how does Matt Czuchry see this move for his character and Alicia? Speaking to TV Guide following the finale, he explained that some of the events that happened at the end of this season will carry (pun intended) over to the next, and it will be interesting to see how the story develops:

“What makes it exciting for both Cary and Alicia is that, in so many ways, they’re starting over. They’re risking it all for this new venture, and with that comes not only being a good lawyer but the managerial aspects of what clients do we have? We have to win cases. We see in this season finale of him looking for office space and how he wants Kalinda to come with them, but he may not be able to afford her. All those business issues, as well as trying to win cases and being a good lawyer, is something we haven’t seen Cary or Alicia have to do before. So them having to do that for the first time and having to do it together is going to be fun to explore at the beginning of Season 5.”

There are still some other possibilities left open for the new season, including a time jump and also questions about Alicia and Will. However, some of these will have to wait … for now.

Do you think Cary and Alicia at their own firm will have a great impact on the show? If you want to hear what Josh Charles had to say about the end to this season, you can do so over here.
