‘Mad Men’ season 6, episode 6 preview: Roger Sterling’s back in bed
We understand that the headline to this “Mad Men” story may look particularly scandalous, but you also have to remember one important thing here: AMC is not exactly doing a phenomenal job these days of giving us a great deal to work with. Likely for reasons such as the element of surprise that we had this week with “The Flood,” the show is hesitant to really unveil anything that could be of consequence to the story.
With that, we present the first look at the upcoming “For Immediate Release.” After being misled by promo material last week to think that it was going to be somewhat Roger-centric, this episode may actually be. Why? For one, we have a glimpse of him in bed in the promo, along with the following short synopsis suggesting that he makes a pretty bold move:
“Roger changes tack to make new business; Pete has an awkward run-in with a client.”
So what could this “tack” be? There is almost a part of us that wants to believe that he is doing just about the same thing thing that Joan did in the bedroom, but we must also submit that this would be cheesy, and Matthew Weiner has never been someone to particularly travel the same road again and again when it comes to characters not named Don Draper. (Don, meanwhile, has used the road of infidelity so much that he has been forced to pave it.)
There are two other interesting questions that we have after watching the promo:
1. Who is it exactly that Peggy wants out?
2. Why is Pete being warned by Joan, and will he actually listen to her?
If you have any theories for this upcoming “Mad Men,” we’d love to hear them below. Meanwhile, you can read our full episode review for Sunday at the link here.
