‘New Girl’ season 2, episode 23 preview: Schmidt has a few questions…
While not every show can really pull off an episode built largely on flashbacks, “New Girl” has built so much hype around Tuesday night’s “Virgins” that it feels almost like an instant classic before it even airs. The entire theme of the half-hour is all about how many of these characters had their first time, with the primary goal here being to connect these stories from the past to the present.
One of the easier stories to tell would be without a doubt Schmidt. After all, Max Greenfield’s character recently brought his ex Elizabeth back into his world, and this episode specifically details the pair getting ready to hook up, which on Schmidt’s side of things included a really awkward conversation with one Nick Miller.
First of all, how creepy / appropriate is it that Nick had a hipster mustache and long hair while in university, and also that he was the kind of guy that Schmidt went to for advice on love? He answered a few questions for the big guy (complete with incredible fat suit), and merely just made faces at pretty much every question that he did not want to answer.
While in the present day, Schmidt may be turning to Elizabeth to help heal some wounds thanks to Cece’s upcoming wedding. Meanwhile, the Nick and Jess stories here could be setting up to how the couple chooses to deal with their relationship in the present. Are they meant to be together? Hopefully, some answers from the past will play a role in figuring this out.
What’s your take on this video, and do you almost think that an entire show about Fat Schmidt would be just as entertaining as the present-day one? If you want to watch more video footage from this episode, you can do so over at the link here.
