‘The Vampire Diaries’: Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt celebrate ‘The Originals’ pick-up

The Vampire Diaries, Joseph MorganEven before “The Originals” aired as a backdoor pilot on Thursday night’s “The Vampire Diaries,” there was a general consensus among many in the industry that this was a show that was bound to be picked up as a series. With this in mind, it was hardly a surprise to see the news announced by the media across the board on Friday, but even with that being said, isn’t this still something worth celebrating? Some of the actors behind the scenes on the show seem to think so.

Let’s of course start with Joseph Morgan, who has been the driving force behind this original family ever since his storyline really started to take off in “The Vampire Diaries” season 2. Not long after the news came out, he had the following to say in a post on Twitter:

“I’m utterly humbled and eternally grateful that you all took a chance on an old villain. News still sinking in. WE GOT PICKED UP!”

Meanwhile, here are a few other assorted comments from various people associated with the show:

Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley): “So blessed!! Thank you thank thank you! #TheOriginals xxxx”

Claire Holt (Rebekah): “Very excited!! Thank you @CW_network @WarnerBrosEnt and @julieplec for creating a kick ass show.”

Julie Plec (executive producer): “Just got fantastic news at 30,000 feet.  You all knew before I did that ‘The Originals’ is a go for next season.  So psyched.”

Charles M. Davis (Marcel): “Thank you, Lord!!!!”

For Davis, the news may have been the most exciting of all, being that he was new to the franchise, and now he can take a few deep breaths and celebrate the fact that he now has a full-time job beginning in the late summer, when the series will begin filming.

Are you just as thrilled by the news as the actors are? If you want to read some more official news on the pickup, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
