‘American Idol’: Lee DeWyze’s ‘Silver Lining’ made available before results show
If you are a big-time fan of Lee DeWyze, this is probably the best day out there to do a happy dance. Not only is the “American Idol” season 9 champ set to return to the show tonight to perform “Silver Lining,” but the new single was made available on iTunes just in time for the show. You can pick it up here.
This single was originally set to come out a little later in the spring, but Lee and his Vanguard Records team were of course smart to push up the release date to capitalize on the performance tonight. Many contestants so far this season, including past winners Carrie Underwood and Phillip Phillips, have benefited heavily from the results show sales bump, and with Lee this could also help to grab the attention of radio stations for an adds date down the road. It’s the strongest single he has had to date, with a distinct folk-rock sounds and a driving beat during the chorus.
Just in case you missed the studio performance of the song Lee’s team released earlier this spring, you can check it out below. He is actually the only former contestant performing on the show tonight, as he will be joined by a group of rockers in Fall Out Boy looking for a comeback, and also a young star in Ariana Grande looking for her big breakthrough in music. (Ironically, her new single was written in part by former winner Jordin Sparks.) Of course, within this there will also be some results … and a possibility of no one going home for the first time all season.
