‘The Following’ finale spoilers: Can Parker be saved?

During Monday night’s season finale for “The Following,” there is going to be something that series star Kevin Bacon claims is “one of the most intense things” that he has ever done over the course of his career. So what is it? To put it into basic terms, he has to keep his partner Parker from suffocating to death.

As the producers explain in the video below, Parker is probably in one of the worst situations imaginable for someone that is alive. While she is lucky enough to still be among the living, she is only going to be that way for so long. Joe Carroll and his team buried her alive, thus creating the challenge for Ryan to find her and get her unearthed before she runs out of air. In complicating matters, Joe also has some nasty plans for Claire after he has realized that there is no real hope for her to be at his side.

All of this is shaping up to be a pretty epic conclusion, though what is perhaps most interesting for the time being is that there are no real answers when it comes to the next season yet. For the time being, everything is simply revolving around whether or not Parker and Claire can be saved, and if Joe can be stopped. The problem with keeping a villain like him around is that you run the risk of becoming desensitized to him, which the show is probably going to have to look at if he does survive the finale.
