‘Bates Motel’ episode 6 review: Who killed Norman’s father?
This week’s episode of “Bates Motel” was a really important one when it comes to learning some of Norman Bates’ back ground and why he seems to be completely clueless about his blackouts.
Dylan and Norman decided that it was time to get Keith Summers belt back from Shelby now that they know about his dangerous extra curricular activities. While the brothers are retrieving the belt, Shelby shows up at the hotel wanting some private time with Norma. When she takes him to one of the motel rooms, he hears the water running in another suite and decides to investigate it. He finds the girl he had been holding captive and chases her down into the woods, just as Norman and Dylan come home with the belt.
After the Bates family have a show down with Shelby that leaves him dead on the front steps of the motel, Dylan says that he’s taking Norman and they are getting a place on their own. Norma tells Dylan the truth about Norman – that he has black outs and goes into a trace where he has killed people, including his own father. Norma goes on to explain that after Norman killed his dad, she put him in his room and created a scenario where it looked like his father died in an accident to protect Norman’s innocence. Now that Dylan knows the truth about Norman’s killer instincts will he still want to take Norman to live with him?
This is where things are really going to get interesting on “Bates Motel”. The Shelby mystery is tied up, and the Norma/Keith Summers murder is taken care of, so what’s really left? Well we don’t know if that girl got away from Shelby or if there was anyone else involved in that situation. Also Bradley is still missing after her night with Norman begging the question: Did Norman and Bradley really make love the way he thinks or did he have a blackout and it was really something else?
The next new episode of “Bates Motel” airs on Monday, April 29th at 10 p.m. on A&E – will you be watching?
