Reese Witherspoon cancels ‘Jimmy Fallon,’ ‘Good Morning America’ after arrest
While she made fun of purchasing a mountain of booze earlier this year on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Reese Witherspoon has decided that she and her husband Jim Toth’s recent arrests after a stop by police on the road were no laughing matter. As you probably heard over the weekend, Toth was booked for DUI, while the Oscar-winning actress was arrested for disorderly conduct after making a scene at the time of his arrest.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Witherspoon has canceled a TV publicity tour for her upcoming project “Mud,” including stops on “Good Morning America” and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” following the incident. This move certainly shows how seriously the actress is taking this incident, considering that she has long been a positive and funny presence on the late-night TV circuit.
Earlier in the statement, Witherspoon released a statement apologizing profusely for the incident, and her behavior that created such a stir:
“I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”
Eventually, we do figure that Witherspoon will hit the TV circuit to promote future projects, but probably not until this blows over. Fallon will still be a good destination for her, mostly because he tends to focus on silly topics more than hard-hitting questions about tabloid rumors.
