‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: The testing ground for Joseph Morgan’s ‘Originals’

Vampire DiariesThere are countless pilots currently in production across a number of major television networks, but at the moment, the one that certainly has the most buzz surrounding it is none other than “The Originals” on The CW. It’s the only pilot to introduce its characters and its world within the next week, and it also features a leading character (in Joseph Morgan’s Klaus) who is already incredibly popular with fans.

Now, we’re hearing just when a decision will probably be made as to whether or not this show will be picked up for another season. According to a report from Deadline, the last bit of validation that the series (and executive producer Julie Plec) need is for the show to air on Thursday. So long as the buzz is fairly positive, we see a pickup announcement coming before the network’s upfront presentation. As a matter of fact, it could come before the episode airs depending on just how confident executives are.

What is even more interesting about “The Originals” right now is that it is not the only show from Plec that is getting some sort of serious contention to continue on beyond this season. The other series we are looking at potentially here is “Tomorrow People,” another series focusing on people with powers. However, the difference here is that this series is being made with executive producer Greg Berlanti, who is currently working his tail off to ensure that “Arrow” is a success.

Even if “The Originals” as a backdoor pilot disappoints you for whatever reason, do you think that you will still see enough in the episode to make you excited to watch more? If you want to read more about the end of “Vampire Diaries” season 4 filming, you can do so over at the link here.
