‘The Walking Dead’: Taking a look back before season 4 with Michael Rooker

The Walking DeadNext month, production on “The Walking Dead” season 4 will begin in Atlanta with most of the cast and crew present. Before we get to that point, though, we have some other news to share courtesy of a man who had himself a pretty legendary and gruesome death in season 3: Michael Rooker. Even though Merle disappeared through a great chunk of the series’ run, there was still something about his character that made him both magnetic and incredibly entertaining to watch.

With that in mind, it only seems appropriate that we look back a bit on his passing courtesy of a new video from Fan Expo Vancouver this weekend. In the video below (which was found via ComicBook.com), you can listen in for a few minutes as the actor explains a little bit of what it was like to have Norman Reedus completely mutilate his body, which apparently turned out to be a pretty entertaining experience. How much so? Let’s just say that over the course of the scene, Reedus apparently grew so tired that he had a hard time doing anything else.

Even though we may be without Merle moving forward into season 4, at least it does appear as though his memory will still live on in Daryl Dixon’s heart. We are going to be feeling the ramifications of what happened for some time, as having to do this sort of act surely changed Daryl in some pretty significant ways. Sadly, we don’t know much about how it will change Daryl – guess we’ll have to wait and see!
