‘Game of Thrones’ season 3, episode 4 preview: The manipulation game
What is so brilliant about the latter family is what you can see in the photo attached here: they project compassion and kindness. How could you think anything different from seeing the concern on Margaery’s face as she listens to Joffrey? This is not a face reading “I know you are a monster, and am keeping my enemies closer.” Instead, it’s a face of someone who knows exactly how to get what she wants.
Unfortunately for Margaery, Loras, and Lady Olenna, there is someone that is on to their game to wield great influence throughout all of Westeros: Unfortunately, it is also someone who is quickly starting to be the token person that no one really even bothers to listen to anymore. Cersei Lannister. At one point, she really was someone with a major stake in the empire, as she was married to the king and had her brother Jaime leading the guard. However, at this very moment she is starting to lose some of that influence with her son, and despite her attempts to stay close to her father Tywin, we’re not sure that it is working out all that well for her either.
We should get a better understanding of just what some of the Tyrell family’s endgame is by the end of this episode, as we are going to see Olenna spend a little bit of time with another key information broken in Varys.
