Does ‘The Glee Project’ now have a chance at season 3 renewal?
For those of us who loved “The Glee Project” more at times than even the show it is based on, the prolonged negotiations for season 5 of “Glee” ended up equaling bad news. After all, there were even reports suggesting that the series (which had middling ratings for most of its second season) was canceled by Oxygen, but a rep for the network later claimed that this was not the case.
Now, the renewal for the Fox show certainly raises questions again about whether or not we could have some more “Glee Project” action in the future. This is one of those rare reality shows where you actually get to see the end result of someone’s hard labor. One such example of this? Blake Jenner, who has appeared in just about every episode of “Glee” since coming on the series as Ryder Lynn. Even season 1 alum Alex Newell has played a major part as Unique, while Samuel Larsen, Damian McGinty, and Ali Stoker have all made brief appearances of their own.
According to Entertainment Weekly, “conversations” are starting at Oxygen about a season 3 happening at some point. At the moment, the question here is really when would be the right time to launch it. We have a hard time thinking that there could be auditions done and ready to go for a new season to air this summer, but there could be a new season that premieres in the fall, with the winner potentially getting a spot on the show in the spring. Or, they could just bring the show back next summer for season 6.
No matter what they choose, this is one of the best opportunities on TV to lift the veil on the TV casting process, and we’re all much better with some “Glee Project” in our lives. Do you think “The Glee Project” should come back now? If you want to take a look at who is for sure returning to “Glee” next season, you can do so over here.

Lifts the veil on the casting process? Really?? Perhaps so as to the first season, but season 2 left no doubt that this is not really a competition or a casting process, but rather just another of the considerable ongoing efforts to create and maintain interest in Glee.
