‘The View’: Whoopi Goldberg indifferent on potential new panelist(s)

The ViewIt has been confirmed that Joy Behar is going to be leaving “The View” at the end of the season after being a part of the Barbara Walters-created talk show for pretty much its entirely; meanwhile, there were rumors that Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be joining her, even though those rumors have since been denied by Walters herself.

So regardless of how many people end up leaving, you would think that Whoopi Goldberg, who is one of the show’s biggest stars and moderators, would have some sort of opinion on it. As it turns out, you thought wrong! Rather, the former “Sister Act” star tells Us Weekly this week that really, she has no preference at all of who is in the seat so long as she continues to earn a paycheck:

“Let me tell you this about The View: I take a paycheck every other week. That’s all I do. I could give a sh*t what comes. I do my job — I have a contract. That’s where I stand. I don’t give a f**k.”

Goldberg also said (perhaps a little more diplomatically) that she really tries to avoid almost all of the rumors out there about potential replacements for as much of the time as she possibly can:

“I think it’s the only way to keep your sanity because these are not decisions that I get to make. It ain’t my show. It’s Barbara’s show.”

We can easily see some people taking Goldberg’s remarks as callous or uncaring about a job that has made her a very rich woman; you have to at the same time be a bit blunt when it comes to the ever-changing TV industry. You never want to overstep your bounds, and there are probably millions out there who say even worse about their jobs.

What do you think about Whoopi’s comments, and who would you love to see join “The View”? If you want to hear some of the rumors even floating around Walters, you can do so over here.
