‘Breaking Bad’ season 5: Creator enthusiastic over Saul Goodman spin-off idea

SaulAs previously reported, the saga of “Breaking Bad” may not be completely over, after all, and it’s all courtesy of Saul Goodman. AMC, show creator Vince Gillian, and actor Bob Odenkirk are talking about the possibility of putting a Saul-centered spin-off show on the air at some point after the series wraps up this year, and if Gilligan has his way, it very much seems like this will be a done deal.

Both Vince and Bryan Cranston recently sat down for a pretty extensive and informative interview with Collider talking about the overall journey of the series, and the showrunner closed with an answer that gave just enough away for Saul fans to be excited, but also kept enough a mystery to have everyone guessing for months on end:

“I would very much like to see that happen.  We are talking about it.  Nothing is set in stone yet, but I can tell you, for sure, that I would love to see that happen.”

Ultimately, this series could just end up being a matter of logistics, and making sure that the creative is strong enough to make sure it justifies the show. No one wants to see “Breaking Bad” end with a poor offshoot a la “Friends” and “Joey,” but the advantage to this is that Saul was never one of the series’ two main characters, and that Odenkirk has so many comedic talents that were only shown in bursts on the show over the years. The fan support would certainly be there, and we can’t imagine why this would be a relationship that AMC would want to stray from.

How badly do you want this idea to come to fruition? If you want to hear Betsy Brandt’s hilarious description of the “Breaking Bad” ending, be sure to hit up the link here.
