Ratings: ‘Game of Thrones’ season 3, ‘The Voice’ season 4 hit highs

TyrionRather than trying to spread out some of the latest ratings news over the course of a few articles, here’s a few quick hits to let you know what is going on across many of your favorite shows.

“Game of Thrones” on Sunday brought in over 4.7 million viewers, allowing it to set a new series high over the season 3 premiere on March 31. Granted, we think that the lesser competition helped to draw this number, but HBO has to be thrilled. Through its various mediums, the fantasy drama pulls in more than 10 million viewers a week, and it one of their most successful franchises.

-The season 2 premiere of “Veep” drew a decent 1.2 million viewers, which is much better than how season 2 of “Girls” performed earlier this season. However, “Girls” also did not have the benefit of airing after “Game of Thrones.”

-Now, let’s talk demos. While these numbers could change somewhat thanks to the preemption’s that occurred with the Boston Marathon tragedy, “The Voice” set a season 4 high last night with a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic despite the show being at a little bit of a duller part of the competition in the battle rounds. Right now, it is Hulk-smashing “American Idol” by over a full ratings point.

-On the flip side, not one show in the CBS comedy block drew above a 2.6 rating (which “How I Met Your Mother” drew), which is sad for what was a pretty dominant lineup.

-For those of you who really love “Oh Sit!,” the season 2 premiere drew a 0.4 rating, which is around the same level as “The Carrie Diaries” was pulling in the same spot.
