‘American Idol’ top 6 results preview: Are Janelle Arthur, Amber Holcomb in danger?
On a night of “American Idol” that was all about extremes Wednesday, we have a feeling that the two singers that could be in the most danger are the ones who fell in the middle of the performance spectrum.
Let’s talk first of all about someone who will never be in danger of going home tonight in a million years: Candice Glover. Both of her performances were outstanding, but “Love Song” was the best performance of the season, and it may quite possibly be in the top two or three best ones that we’ve ever seen on the show. Basically, we’re talking a “Mad World” / “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” sort of moment. Candice’s challenge will be trying to live up to the hype she created here moving forward. Even though this was Adele’s arrangement of the Cure’s song, it still felt original.
On the flip side, Lazaro Arbos gave quite possibly one of the worst performances ever on this stage in “Close to You,” and we sincerely doubt that he will be going home, either. Why? He still has that underdog edit as the last guy standing, and his following last week proved to be pretty strong. (Had he performed “Angels” first rather than last, he may be in more danger.)
Ultimately, this is a night where we ultimately don’t see anyone going home at all. The save has yet to be used, and it has to be eventually in order for the show to make it to the finale. This will be the week that someone is spared, and we’re betting on either Amber Holcomb or Janelle Arthur. They gave good but not necessarily amazing performances last night, and their fan followings have been the most vulnerable out of the women.
Who do you think is primed to leave “American Idol” this week? If you want to go back and read our review from Wednesday night, you can do so over at the link here.

I agree! Amber’s the whole package.
The other girls have great voices, but I find them boring.

Amber has the best voice in the competition!! True how Randy said that if Lazaro had sang his first performance at an audition, he wouldn’t have gone to Hollywood–and now he’s in the Top 6!!
I’m just hoping that America sees that Amber Holcomb is a true singer–and that this is a singing contest.

You do not do anyone a favor by voting out of pity. Lazaro is terrible and his disability may put him at a disadvantage but it also puts him in a position to not be able to compete in this arena. It’s not fair for him to occupy a spot that someone else deserves. Ultimately there will be one winner but the road to winning is paved with the hopes of the remaining contestants. He doesn’t even act like he thinks he should be there.
