‘Mad Men’ season 6, episode 3 preview: How much of a promo is it?
If there is one thing that we have learned in watching “Mad Men” episode promos over the years, it’s that it is probably not a good idea to get too excited about them. After all, there is typically not enough content in them to really be even considered a promo at all, and the footage is either old or new clips spliced together in such a way that you know absolutely nothing about what is going to transpire on the next new episode. We know that the third episode of the season airing on Sunday is going to be called “The Collaborators,” and there’s really not much else in the way of details that you can really get from this.
Of course, it is also the “Mad Men” tradition to have a synopsis that really fails to reveal much of anything. Have fun speculating based off of this one:
“Don has a difference of opinion with a client, while Peggy has problems motivating the staff.”
So why be so secretive here in an age where few are? That question probably answers itself: it is good sometimes to change things up, and to separate oneself from the norm a little bit. Matthew Weiner is notorious for keeping his storylines under wraps, and at this point it is really hard to expect that he would want to do anything different, since surprises have led to so many fantastic moments on the show already. Think about what the premiere would have been like, for example, had we known that Don had reverted back to his old ways?
