‘The X Factor’ USA / UK notes: Emblem3’s cover; Gary Barlow rumors
It’s a pretty quiet Sunday by most standards, so with that in mind, we really do not have too many stories to share at this given moment when it comes to scoop about “The X Factor.”
However, the first bit of news that we have to share here is pretty significant, it you’re a big-time fan of Emblem3: the group’s first post-show single “Chloe” (You’re the One I Want) is going to be made available to download on iTunes beginning on Tuesday, April 16. This means that the boys will have only waited around five months following the show to release new music, which is really a pretty good timeframe, all things considered. They have been performing this song at venues around the country to a good reception, so the only question now is just if Simon Cowell and his team can convince radio stations around America to give it a chance. This is where all artists from the show (save for Chris Rene, to an extent) have failed.
Could Gary Barlow leave? – Now, we turn to the latest rumors that are spreading like wildfire when it comes to Gary Barlow’s future on the British version of the show. Speaking to the tabloid the People, a source claims that the Take That singer is waiting until a presentation at the end of the week to determine whether or not he wants to stay on the competition for its tenth season, mostly because he does not want to deal with any more “joke acts” moving forward:
“Gary has made it clear that he will not be on the show unless the problems from last year are corrected and something fabulous is offered for the viewers … He knows the risks. The X Factor could easily struggle against the competition if things aren’t done right this time around.
“He knows what he wants to see so he will fly back from Los Angeles at the end of the week for a presentation. He wants to know that they’re going to stop poking fun at the show, he wants serious singers and to know who will be on the judging panel. It’s crunch time at the end of the week and you just can’t call what it he is going to do. If he doesn’t sign the deal it could leave Simon and his team with a huge problem.”
Do we really see Gary leaving? Not so much. The show pays well, and he has to be savvy enough to know that while he may not have liked Rylan Clark, it’s hard to see how him lasting a long time was bad for the show due to his personality … especially when he had Christopher Maloney in the final three.
