‘American Idol’ notes: Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Jessica Sanchez
For today’s “American Idol” notes, let’s start things off with some great news from the Kris Allen camp: a new song! During a performance at Ladder 11 in Dayton, Ohio on Friday night, the season 8 champ unveiled a lovely new midtempo track called “Unique.” It’s a catchy, bubbly little love song that is sure to make a few people go “aww” when they hear it for the first time. (Heck, we certainly did.)
There’s no word yet on when Kris is actually going to be able to release some new tunes, as he parted ways from his label following the release of his last album. He has, however, released a few Christmas tracks on his own, and we imagine that he will figure out a way to get some new music out to his fans soon enough.
For now, let’s just take a minute to enjoy the music he has out there.
Speaking of videos – Lee DeWyze gave a performance at CityWalk in Los Angeles on Saturday, and while there are no complete audio clips of it online at the moment, we do at least have a solid 90 seconds of him performing a new song called “You Don’t Know Me.” Lee has been hard at work for months on a sophomore album, and hopefully we’ll have some more details relating to a release date within the weeks and months ahead.
Jessica’s new gig – Finally, we thought that inquiring minds would be interested in knowing that Jessica Sanchez is going to get quite an opportunity to open for a major star. In New York City on May 14, the season 11 singer will get the opportunity to open for none other than Latin pop superstar Enrique Igleasias! Really, this is just the latest example of “American Idol” stars getting to hone some of their performing skills alongside big names in the industry. Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, and Scotty McCreery are all examples of singers who have opened for such people as Brad Paisley, Matchbox 20, and more.

Thank you for posting Video of Lee DeWyze! I am 8,ooo Miles away in AUSTRALIA.So i rely heavily on people like yourself and his incredible fans to keep me updated. I did have the pleasure of seeing him LIVE in LA and he was just incredible so worth the trip. Wish him all the best with the new CD he deserves it so much. Such a Honest, Humble and talented man! Thank you for your support for the wonderfully talented and incredibly amazing Lee DeWyze! You will never find anyone as genuine and heartwarming to all his fans as Lee. I have never had the honor of meeting or seeing Lee in person but one day it will happen. I’m a huge fan and supporter all the way from Canada. Lee’s songwriting and singing talent blows me away. The moment you hear him sing you are instantly mesmerized by his soulful passionate lyrics. Lee’s new album will personify who he really is and will rock the world!! I’m proud to say that I’m a huge fanatic fan of Lee DeWyze. Very heartwarming witnesses the rising of his career. I’m flying 22hrs from Indonesia to meet him personally at Viper Alley Concert. I will do anything I can to support him. Can’t wait for his new album which I believe gonna be AMAZING!!

Wow! It’s nice to know that Jessica Sanchez is now having her chance to open a concert for a big star like Enrique Iglesias. You’re making us more proud again for that. It’s wonderful hearing how people hearing Lee for the 1st time are blown away! He is such a natural singer of songs AND he is extremely sweet to his fans. I’m flying from FL to see him in Chicago on the 19th. I can’t wait :)

I love Lee and his music. He has worked so hard on this new album and i want to see him get all the success i think he deserves. He is so good to his fanbase and we just love him to death. I can’t wait to buy his album when it comes out… it is going to be AMAZING!!!!!!
