‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Tate Stevens, Fifth Harmony, and … Snooki?
Typically, we like to start our “X Factor” notes articles by focusing on the show’s past and present contestants, but in this case one of the stories that we have to share is so out of left field, we would feel strange if we didn’t lead off with it.
According to RumorFix, former “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is seriously considering taking a hosting gig on the American singing show this fall, where she would replace Khloe Kardashian. From one standpoint, it makes some sense: Snooki is a well-documented fan of the show, and tweets about it even without getting paid for it. She also could really benefit from the show even more from Khloe, since she does not have a family around her with an empire of TV products.
However, do we really think this is going to happen? Not so much. If the biggest problem with Khloe (who has not been officially fired yet) is that she was not experienced enough to be effective in a live TV environment, how is Snooki? The show should either just go with one host to save money, or find a no-name person who has hosting experience and could become synonymous with the show. Two great examples of that? Cat Deeley and Ryan Seacrest. While Tom Bergeron was not an unknown when he joined “Dancing with the Stars,” he was not used by the show for star power.
Preview Tate Stevens’ album – Tate’s self-titled debut is coming out on April 22, and in preparation of this very thing, Amazon now has some 30-second clips of some of his tracks.
So how do the songs sounds? If you are a diehard country music fan, you’re probably going to lap this up like nobody’s business. This is straight-laced country music that is as American as a deep-fried butter at the State Fair. If you hate the genre, you’re probably going to want to steer clear. It’s basically Garth Brooks missed with Jason Aldean on almost every track.

Just a small tidbit for you Emblems and Harmonizers.
I decided to jot down their number of followers on Twitter on 12/31/12. Here were the numbers:
Twitter followers on 12/31/12
Emblem 3= 459,950
Fifth Harmony= 335,470
Today on April 9th, 2013, their twitter followers are as follow:
Emblem 3= 540,187
Fifth Harmony= 520,483
Nearly four months ago, Emblem had 124,480 more fans than Fifth Harmony. Today, a mere 19,704 seperates their number of twitter followers. Fifth Harmony has closed the gap very quickly without having released any new material. Their fanbase grew rapidly.
Emblem 3 gained 80,237 fans within 4 months.
Fifth Harmony gained 185,013 fans within 4 months. That is 105,000 more fans than Emblem 3.
Do I see 5H’s fanbase surpassing Emblem 3’s soon? Yes, I do. =)

E3 Selling out shows? Yeah, like small theatres and House of Blues with about 1,000 standing room only tickets. LOL Fifth HArmony will sell out arenas!

@Christina Purely speculation but here are my thoughts. Little Mix is back in the UK promoting there new single and I don’t think they’ll be back in the US until May. Without ‘Wings’ receiving promotion I expect airplay will go down and if that happens, sales will follow. Also my belief that the majority of sales came from their already established US fan base so I would be surprised to see It go much higher than it is already and actually expect it to start dropping. In all fairness, I thought ‘Wings’ needed retooling for a broader US market so I may not be the best judge here.

@Danni I was asking myself the same question! Did i miss a chart? I don’t think it will go beyond the top #50 on US itunes if their single can somehow manage to even get that far. Last time i checked “wings” had just passed over 97K in sales but i think it’s probably nearing its peak. I’m curious to know though how far you think it will place on itunes?

@Rachel U sure about that? I’ve been tracking Wings since LM started their promo tour and have only seen it climb to 41 on the US Airplay charts, never cracked 100 on the US singles charts. Never appeared on the Top 200 or Hot 100 Billboard charts. It is currently 74 on the iTunes charts. I’m I missing a chart? :)

@Rachel probably so but #30 really isn’t that high because it is only for a certain category. I’m not saying i don’t think LM will not have success in the US, what I’m saying is i doubt it will be anywhere nearly close to what 1D did. Girl bands have always struggled here and the only foreign girl group that i know that went on to become huge were the Spice Girls. I have nothing against LM…I’m just speaking based on realistic expectations for them. 5H will face the same struggles not doubt, but the only thing i do know is that people in the US are due a new girl band to be huge here.

@Sally Actually Little Mix have already released their single “wings” and just wrapped up their promo tour. They are struggling to even stay in the top 100, but that is because the US is always critical of girl groups. LM’s album sits at #161 on the list of albums so it is going to take a whole lot if they want to have huge success in the US. The X Factor is more popular than in the US so the fact that they won the UK version is irrelevant. The two shows are completely different because the US version features more diversity such as country music. Nobody really knows how successful 5H will go on to be…only time will tell but it’s pretty stupid for anybody to say they won’t be successful when they haven’t even released any original music yet. Let the girls release their first single and then everybody can criticize them all they want.

@Harmonizer Little Mix are releasing their music in the US soon, and they already have a huge fan base in the UK. So I think Little Mix will be bigger, and they have One Direction supporting them. Plus they WON The X Factor.

Actually emblem 3 had a jump start before everybody else. I mean didn’t they do concerts at the roxy before? I mean they even had original songs and toured southern california. But fifth harmony is new to all of this. They will be big. There are no girl groups from america that are superstars and I see this group being the next spice girls. And we are actually always having to defend our girls from directioners or emblem 3 fans because you attack Camila for getting noticed.

Fifth Harmony have some competition Little Mix. One Direction will always support Little Mix more because their both from the UK, and Zayn is dating Perrie from Little Mix. I personally think that Little Mix will be bigger. Little Mix are going to release their music in the US soon. So Fifth Harmony might not be as big as you thought they would be.

This article has nothing to do with Emblem3, yet most of the comments are about them. DO NOT CALL EMBLEM3 A BOYBAND! Emblem3 are going on another tour. Their album will be out late spring/early summer 2013. Then they will most likely be going on tour again. Their single Chloe will be out on iTunes April 16th, and a music video will also be released sometime later. Their original songs before X Factor has ton of views. Why aren’t they doing covers? Because they already had some original songs. Emblem3 has been the only contestants on X Factor USA that have been signed to Columbia records which in fact has better artists than Epic which signed X Factor USA season 1 contestants, and Fifth Harmony. All the season 1 contestants are going on flop. Emblem3’s album may seen more pop than they wanted, but that’s their plan. To gain a bigger audience by making some pop music, and than showing everyone their original style. They plan to mix their original style into the pop mainstream world.

lol at Claire. I think it’s obvious you are just another teenage girl who obsesses over boy bands but whatever. Basically your whole comment didn’t even make any sense and i found it funny how you repeatedly referred to them as “fifth unison” because criticism doesn’t even work any more. If L.A. didn’t really believe in the girls, he wouldn’t have signed them to his record label. E3 doesn’t even have a bigger fan base, that crown still belongs to Carly even 5H fans acknowledge that! Are u aware that Epic has an entirely new team this year? Probably not because you are ignorant to facts.These so called “sellouts” consist of crowds of no more than 3,000 people so i wouldn’t be so quick to use that as a compliment to them. What’s with the racist remarks towards Latin and Mexicans? Are you that close minded or are you just unhappy with your own life? As for the Camren stuff, it was made clear a long time ago that it’s all for fun and joking. Lighten up kid! People can send hate to Camila all they want because she told everybody a long time ago that she stopped checking her mentions and only reads stuff from the people she follows. Another thing you implied is that Keaton and Lauren dated but her along with her parents have repeatedly made it clear that they were never more than just friends. Why would the E3 invite the girls to one of their mini tour concerts if they had split up? It would probably be awkward for the both of them. All in all, don’t believe everything you hear and read and DO NOT make any more racist remarks but discriminating is wrong! Learn some manners.

I can’t stand 5h and their estupida fans. They’re the ones starting stuff with directioners or emblems. No one is going to buy teen girls albums. Unless they’re from disney or nickelodeon like ariana or demi or miley.Girls my age (15) only like guys. Like justin, one direction, 5SoS, what about tonight, austin m, cody s, and emblem3. I’m actually a directioner first but fell in love with E3.

@Lacy Emblem3’s fan base is called EMBLEMS. The definition of Chloe is: A Chloe is a girl who is amazing and talented but sometimes has a low self-esteem, that’s the point of their song Chloe. Emblem3 ask their fans who are “Chloes” because of the definition. That’s why Emblems call themselves “Chloes”.

E3 has a bigger fan base out of everybody that’s ever been on x factor usa. 5th unison is at epic records and no one who signed to that label who’s been on x factor usa has been good at selling records. They floped. There is a lot of mexicans or latinos or whatever that are 5h fans. And there is lesbian stuff going on cuz they talk about camren or whatever. And its weird. I doubt 5h will be able to sell out tickets like E3. 5h is going to need help touring bc no one cares about girl groups. Just watch simon makes 5h go on tour with 1d. Then more girls will hate on 5h. They already do whenever someone from 1d tweets camila. Everyone seems to know camila and not the other girls. If it wasn’t for camila there will be no 5h. She’s the only one people like. Yea lauren is a great singer and dinah too but lauren looks like a dude. Which is why I don’t get why keaton was all up in that she look like amy winehouse. 5h needs to do covers. E3 is too busy on tour and they don’t need to do covers cuz they have original stuff out already. They’re going on tour again next week. In 5 years who will even remeber 5th unison (la reid called them that )

Ben, “of course…”. Of course nothing. Nothing you said regarding Ed or 1D comes close to the truth but neither does anything else posted about it. Autumn, Lil Eddie, and Toby Gad were working with Carly recording tracks when 5H first arrived in LA so yeah, they had some free time to record some covers for their fans. Lego House and American were both recorded two days after hitting the studio but other than doing ‘Press’, they’ve spent all their time in the studio writing and recording. As far as who 5H have been working and recording with is public knowledge. They had a pretty good team even before things went nuts but since have been working with some of the best in the business, were moved to Westwood Studios for a while where they even had a chance to record tracks in the same studio Michael Jackson recorded ‘Thriller’. Emblem3 was an established band having their own original material and performing small gigs years before X-Factor. At least one of the girls had never stepped on a stage before X Factor. The girls of 5H not making it solo had to do with inexperience, not a lack of talent and the world is beginning to wake up to that fact. the show was over months ago and the competition is over. How successful 5H, E3, Carly become will be determined by the music they release, not by their small bickering fandoms.

Do u guys know how many boy bands are already out there lol? E3 will gain some fame, but not much. The market is filled with too many already and I’ve seen plenty that are just like E3. I’ve heard some of their songs and I think they should have released “xoxo” instead of Chloe but I guess time will tell how high that song will make it on the charts. Don’t get me wrong, they are good and talented but i don’t think they are the next big thing….i think Fifth Harmony has a way better chance because the market is wide open for them!

@Ben lol 5H has better producers and writers working with them than E3. Take a look: Grammy nominated Ali Tamposi (Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera), Julian Bunetta (One Direction), Lil Eddie (Usher, Pink, Jessie J), Aimee Proal (Haley Reinhart). These are only half of them because they’ve had more writers going into their studio weekly. How do you think they met Ludacris and T.I.? Also, the girls already have boyfriends except Lauren and Camila. I don’t recall anybody tweeting Ed Sheeran the link, but did u catch yesterday’s tweet where he said “they are fantastic singers’? Too busy lol? Fifth Harmony have been working 14+ hour workdays and still find time to attend events and post covers!

I hate E3 I’m a straight 14 year old girl I only hate E3 well they can’t sing and they have crappy personalities I don’t hate but don’t like 5H that much but we will have to see who gets more successful ONE DIRECTION exploded little mix slowly is rising and there about to there big fame Cher Lloyd was faster than LM but steady the winners usually get no where but we will have to wait and see what happens

Not a fan of either 5H or E3 but i like E3 more. Ofcourse one direction would tweet 5H and send them free tickets. 5H love 1D and no doubt horny harry probably has his eye on ally or lauren. Yeh well the fandom tweeted the video to ed sheeran so ofcourse he’d tweet it back. E3 are too busy to post covers of pop songs and most of the artists they’re into don’t have the same social media presence. Also who’s working on 5H’s album that’s well-known. I only know autumn rowe because she was on x factor. At least emblem 3 are working with top producers/songwriters. e.g. savan kotecha, ryan tedder, the madden brothers, etc who’ve all written for big artists. Emblem 3 didn’t screw up at bootcamp plus dinah forgot the words at bootcamp. I lolled so hard at the comment about 5H’s fanbase being all lesbians and mexicans

WOW? Just Lesbians? Really? I’m a 50 year old straight male and think they are GREAT! I love the Harmonies and they are each unique. They remind me of the music when I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s…Fleetwood MAc, Abba, Mommas/Pappas Hall OAtes etc; etc.
THEY will be the biggest act out of X Factor first 2 seasons Hands Down!

Emblem 3 AKA flop. Fifth Harmony will be the biggest act out of Season 2! I don’t recall E3 making it into the Finals on XF and I don’t recall their covers getting over 500K views on youtube either. You can stop with the racist remarks too…just goes to show the type of person you are!

Excuse me? Fifth Harmony fans maybe lesbians, but we are proud ones! Fifth Harmony are not soon-to-be flops either. They made it farther than Emblem 3 on XFactor. By the way, talk to me when Emblem3 do a cover and get tweeted twice by the original artist (Ed Sheeran). Talk to me when Emblem3 get tweeted by One Direction, and get free tickets to their concert. Next, our girls didn’t screw up at bootcamp either. Also, talk to me when Emblem3 sing a Demi Lovato cover, and she calls it “better than the original.” By the way, who chooses “Chloes” as their fandom name? C’mon now, at least Harmonizers makes sense. In conclusion, hate on the fans as much as you want, but don’t hate on Fifth Harmony, and don’t you dare say that they’re soon-to-be flops.
