‘The X Factor’ UK series 10 spoilers: A return to basics

X FactorEven though we have quite a while still to wait until the new series of “The X Factor” UK comes out in the fall, it already looks as though the producers behind the ITV series are changing things up straight from the get-go when it comes to one thing: the way in which the contestants audition.

Fans of the American show have also seen the contestants come out and perform in front of a massive audience, which is something that Simon Cowell uses frequently in his “Got Talent” franchise, regardless of what country you’re looking at. However, Cowell is looking to bring the show back now to the “audition rooms” structure, which is something used in the early seasons of the show along with “American Idol.” Basically, contestants go in and perform a song without the assistance of any background music.

So why the change? The simple answer here is just that the British show needs a change to get people interested again, and this does differentiate the show more from “Britain’s Got Talent” and “The Voice” UK, who include a live audience during these auditions. As for which is better, we’re not really sure. There have been a few great “American Idol” auditions that are helped by the fact that there is no audience of screaming people, but then again, Susan Boyle on “Britain’s Got Talent” or Danyl Johnson on “The X Factor” would not have had the same sort of sensational tryouts had they not been in front of a crowd.

What do you think about this change, and does it help or hurt the show in your eyes? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below, and you can read even more scoop on both versions of “The X Factor” courtesy of the link here.
