‘Mad Men’ season 6 spoilers: One premiere tease from Matthew Weiner
Get ready to be shocked: “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner has just actually made the move to share something from the upcoming season 6 premiere! Since this is such a rare event, we have to make a bit deal out of it … and the fact that the scoop he is sharing is pretty substantial certainly does not hurt.
While the showrunner is not so cool as to actually name names here, he did explain in a new interview with TVLine that the first scene of the new season is going to be someone making a move that will shock and surprise everyone:
“The first episode [of the series] opens with a guy jumping out a window. The show’s dark … I’m comfortable with that sort of being what our brand is, in a way. But I don’t want it to just be depressing for the hell of it.”
While we’re going to be left to sit around and speculate for a while longer as to who this mystery man could be, Elisabeth Moss (Peggy Olson) is certainly willing to echo Weiner’s statement about there being some more seriously dark stuff coming up for the show and its principal characters::
“I don’t think it’s going to get any lighter! If anything, it gets more in-depth into why it’s so dark and why these characters are so dark. [It] looks a little bit more into what makes them who they are.”
So will the “Mad Men” premiere pack a ratings punch? We really think that the show’s numbers are now at a point where they probably won’t rise much given how many years we are along, but the series will certainly continue to get plenty of buzz.
