‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: Kit Harrington on Jon Snow, Mance Rayder

While Jon Snow at times seemed to be desperate to find a mentor within the ranks of the Night’s Watch, it sees almost as though he has actually found one now on “Game of Thrones” season 3 courtesy of Mance Rayder. He’s a man who has a very similar sort of history to Jon with the organization, but has actually be able to escape that world and find a life of his own. Does this make Mance a hero? We don’t quite know him well enough yet to be sure, but it is certainly possible that Rayder sees a little bit of himself in the half-brother of Rob Stark.

So where will this story go now that Jon is at Rayder’s camp? Speaking to E! News on this subject, Kit Harrington had the following to say on where he ultimately sees this story going between the two men:

“Mance is so charismatic and intriguing to Jon that it’s the first element of Jon not feeling like he’s been told the truth about this band of people and this man … He starts to feel his emotions twisted about whether or not he wants to be a part of the Night’s Watch.”

What makes this universe right now so interesting is that while we have many characters, including Tyrion, Joffrey, or really anyone else in King’s Landing, who can be influenced by many, the only two important people in Jon’s life now are Ygritte and Mance. If he finds a way to embrace them while still being true to himself, he could have a place in this war. Of course, he will have to contend with public perception after being looked at by some as a traitor.
