‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez at the White House; Phillip Phillips’ prank
For this edition of “American Idol” notes, we’re really all about season 11, whether it be what someone did at the White House, or what someone else did on their Twitter account. We’ll start with Jessica Sanchez, who had an opportunity to take on the National Anthem while at the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll on Monday.
Can we say first of all that Jessica killed this song? This is not an easy environment for anyone to actually take on something so iconic, and we have learned time and time again that many a professional singer has allowed this song to get the best of them. Can we just say that this performances proves the theory that “American Idol” stars are the best go-to people for “The Star-Spangled Banner”?
This moment may have an even greater significance for Sanchez than most, as she campaigned actively for President Obama last fall despite not even being old enough to vote.
And now, for some fun … Is this an April Fools’ message from Phillip Phillips? Given that he is a noted prankster, you have to assume it is. In a new post on his Twitter conveniently on April 1, the singer had the following to say when claiming that he is going to be “leaving” Twitter at some point in the near future:
“Hey guys, I’m not going to be twittering anymore. Just isn’t my thing. Sorry”
Considering that Phillip would have just deleted his account had he really wanted to dispose of it, it’s pretty safe to assume that he is just messing around with everyone here. Plus, this is coming right after Phillip, arguably the world’s biggest “Walking Dead” fan, spent a whole night tweeting about the show’s finale.

Ok, I have commented and read and replied but please “Lets Get Real! No one reached this article by accident. You searched it out with keywords such as “Jessica Sanchez, Phillips, Whitehouse etc.” No one is here “innocently” posting negative opinions on Jessica Sanchez or any of her performances. No one is here randomly trolling. No one is logging on to Phillips articles and “innocently” posting negative opinions either. If you are either Phillips or Sanchez’s article pages posting straight out negative comments you are straight out there out of “maliciousness” and their is a more than great chance you are a leftover viewer from American Idol Season 11. You may be fooling the average columnist or random reader but not myself who tracks very closely the social media impact of both young artists

The melody of JS’ new song “Tonight” is catchy and she sounds great! It feels nice until you realize that she sings about dudes with money on another planet. Then you go “what?! why are you wasting your voice on such a trashy song?”
I guess teenies might still like it… as well as those that don’t know English well enough to understand the lyrics.

Both Artists Are dreamers here. Phillips are now in the peak of his greatest journey in his career::I’m really happy for him & my respect is still there for him, I appreciate the performances and songs he shared to us all | He’s a great singer too in his own genres| He even proved that and This Jessica Sanchez is also in the midst of establishing her name in the line of the Music Industry. She’s been into singing a lot, we have witnessed her journey before the AI, during the AI and after AI:: And this Girl is no doubt an AMAZING SINGER regardless of the people who doesn’t like/love her no matter how she give her bests but we couldn’t blame anybody’s here, because they are also entitled to their own opinions. Though, on the other hand, we are not supposed to give selfish opinions which you think your opinions are the only ones entitled. Jessica Sanchez has been so simply giving her bests to give us songs to hear, songs to perform, her songs to support and songs to enjoy with >> it’s up to us how we manage that and accept it. It’s not that I’m a big fan of hers, but I’m just a person who knows how to appreciate, knows how to considerate other people feelings, and knows how to balance & manage the inspirations of what the artist planted in me. Any artist doesn’t want their fans to fight over nonsense things>> though in short>> I salute Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez! You guys are Good Artists to look up to! God Bless you in your careers. Thank You!
To Jessica Sanchez>> you nailed it again! You made us all proud again. It’s an honor to hear you sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” again. #EasterEggRoll #WhiteHouse ……Go Girl! God Bless you in your new song “Tonight” and Album #MeYOuAndTheMusic.
Thank You For this article for giving us the updates all the time. More Power To You!

Why even bother replying to someone who thought the performance was terrible? Their opinion has no impact on anything and they are probably just trolling for a reaction anyway.

cartermatt.com is going to have to start SEPARATING Jessica Sanchez articles from Phillip Phillips news stories as soon as possible to protect the integrity of BOTH fine artists. Reading above there is absolutely no reputable comments of worth other than smearing others from this select group of so-called PP fans. I am sure Phillip Phillips himself would be very embarrassed to read this trash coming from some of his fans.

yeah, die-hard Jessica’s fans will be fighting for her even when she sings dumb songs like her new single: she wants to go on a planet “where the dudes got money and they are not afraid to spend it”. Really? And you position her as a legend and a diva?? C’mon people, it just doesn’t make sense.

Phillips fan …yours is a very weird reaction and you have even more bizarre hearing. No one is bashing Phillips. We are bashing Phillip’s fans (the ones that find a need to ignorantly criticize Jessica’s vocals). There are good Americans and bad Americans. there are good Phillips fans and also bad ones. There is not ONE major media source that found Jessica’s performance anything less than rousing and outstanding. She has done better under better acoustic conditions than were provided in open air but she was still flawless. It is not even debatable unless you can specify a particular note (which I am sure you will conjure up in your imagination somehow. Let us end this childish back and forth at this point.

Hmm… Weird reaction. I just expressed my opinion about Jessica’s performance – are people allowed to do that? I really didn’t like her performance. It wasn’t her best one in my opinion. She struggled, and i felt sorry for her. She was probably just nervous, and it’s understandable.
What i don’t understand is that why Jessica’s fans are so ridiculous. You are not helping Jessica by bashing Phillip.

The amazing miss jessica sanchez there is no better singer ever when it comes to the national anthem.Phillip is handsome he has a nice voice and did a great job on home but jessica is special when a girl can be that talented and have haters you know she is going to be a legend.

I think the fact is this so called Anonymous and a select few other Phillips fans are coasting every site mentioning Jessica in a vain attempt to smear her. These same users have been around since the AI fan rivalry for the crown. 99% of Phillips fans are cool the other selected group seem to scan the internet daily for any mention of Jessica’s name. The thing they have in common is they were all originated as Phillips fans from season 11. Thats the ONLY reason Phils name unfortunately gets dragged in it. From what I know Jessica herself adores Phil so its only guilt by a minority’s association

HEY, the competition was over. why should you always drag Phillips name when mentioning Jessica?? why is not her name enough? dont you know that your putting down Jess by doing this? You’re everywhere, in you tube videos, twitter, i tunes, blogs. Pathetic….. move on and do something good for jessica atleast. support her but don’t put others down. THANK YOU.

I wonder why Jessica’s fans feel that they have to always mention Phillip. Just funny! If you love Jessica, talk about Jessica. Be happy for Jessica. Why do you even mention Phillip? what’s wrong with you people? Do you really need to bash Phillip to feel good about Jessica? Kinda pathetic, don’t you think?

Man, these some of these PP teenage girl fans just can’t get over that Jessica is getting invited to do all the stuff the winner of Idol normally does, but can’t because last year winner only has a 5-note range.

Hey, Phillip imposter, just accept the fact that people may have an opinion that is different from yours. Yes, she really over sang it. The beginning was okay, but when she hit higher notes she was out of breath. Plus, she clearly had some difficulties taking those high notes – her voice became very thin. AND she was off key a couple of times, like 1:53. You can still love her, please, i am not taking it from you :)
