‘American Idol’ notes: Jessica Sanchez at the White House; Phillip Phillips’ prank

American IdolFor this edition of “American Idol” notes, we’re really all about season 11, whether it be what someone did at the White House, or what someone else did on their Twitter account. We’ll start with Jessica Sanchez, who had an opportunity to take on the National Anthem while at the White House’s annual Easter Egg Roll on Monday.

Can we say first of all that Jessica killed this song? This is not an easy environment for anyone to actually take on something so iconic, and we have learned time and time again that many a professional singer has allowed this song to get the best of them. Can we just say that this performances proves the theory that “American Idol” stars are the best go-to people for “The Star-Spangled Banner”?

This moment may have an even greater significance for Sanchez than most, as she campaigned actively for President Obama last fall despite not even being old enough to vote.

And now, for some fun … Is this an April Fools’ message from Phillip Phillips? Given that he is a noted prankster, you have to assume it is. In a new post on his Twitter conveniently on April 1, the singer had the following to say when claiming that he is going to be “leaving” Twitter at some point in the near future:

“Hey guys, I’m not going to be twittering anymore. Just isn’t my thing. Sorry”

Considering that Phillip would have just deleted his account had he really wanted to dispose of it, it’s pretty safe to assume that he is just messing around with everyone here. Plus, this is coming right after Phillip, arguably the world’s biggest “Walking Dead” fan, spent a whole night tweeting about the show’s finale.
