‘Big Brother Canada’ review: Is this ‘instant eviction’ the worst twist ever?
All weekend long, “Big Brother Canada” has relentlessly hyped up this episode as one of the most surprising of the season. Granted, it’s also a little bit easier to do this when you remember that the live feeds have been down all weekend, and save for some information that we learned during a feed leak, everything has been under wraps.
So was this worth the wait? Honestly, not so much. Topaz made the “instant” decision to nominate AJ and Andrew, but the way in which it happened has us honestly pretty angry as a fan. Not only did the show make Topaz make a decision on the nominees right away, but they blocked her from talking to the other houseguests; to make matters worse, they then aired out her dirty laundry for everyone to hear. How is this even an HoH? It’s more like getting screwed over, and you shouldn’t have to worry about that if you’re in a position of power.
Somehow, it got even worse from here, AJ and Andrew did not even get to play in the Veto Competition. This may be the worst twist in the history of the show: AJ went out without even having a shot just for the sake of a shocking twist. That’s not Big Brother. That’s the producers playing puppeteer, which we have been concerned about at times already. The big “shocker” was Alec going against Topaz, and there will be plenty of awkwardness later as a result.
Anyhow, we’ll add some more details as to the rest of the episode a little later. Andrew is the new Head of Household, and he put Topaz (go figure) and Gary on the block.
What did you think about this episode, and are you bummed out to see AJ leave the show like this? If you want to read some more about our concerns over all the twists this season, you can do so over here.

Really Monique – THE RACE CARD?! Why is that every time something happens to people of a different race some sort of discrimination is suggested. You think stuff doesn’t happen to white folks. Andrew had a shortened HOH before this.
I don’t think it was fair that the houseguests were allowed to watch Topaz’s thought process in her decision but I would think that this was planned well before the producers knew who the HOH was going to be. And what have they done to Gary? The producers didn’t put him on the block – Andrew did. Is he in cahoots with the producers? LOL.

I am highly dissappointed and broke down in tears when BBC betrayed Topaz big time. It looks like because Topaz and Gary are of different race that is why you are treating them like this. It is not fair. The organizers have to call Topaz and apologize to her or compensate her. You did not give her time to even enjoy her HOH treat. Am not going to watch the show anymore. Its so sad. Topaz feels betrayed as BBC has forced her to placed all her cards on the table for her fellow house guest to know what her game is all about. OMG this is absolutely incredible. I dont trust the show anymore and will never ever trust the show. I think thats the end.

I am a huge Big Brother fan, and have been surprisingly thrilled with Canada’s version of the show…that is…until tonight. I have never felt so sick with disgust watching the show. It actually made me cry the fact that someone who came into the house to play a game, then had ALL her cards shown to her fellow houseguests is beyond unfair. It is almost cheating if you ask me. Great BBC you made Topaz the enemy of the house and now she doesnt even have her “alliance” to fall back on since now because of this “Twist” they all had to go and save themselves. I was hoping and praying that it was at least going to be a Double Head of Household so that her and Gary have a chance. Terrible terrible terrible. FYI BBC I turned off the show immediately when I saw her showing her hand to everyone unbeknownst to her. This crap does not gain viewership it loses them. If you remember in the US version Danielle from season 3 lost the game because evicted houseguests were able to see diary room entries, and BBUS made the evicted houseguests be sequestered so bitterness would not affect the vote. Well BBC you better take a page out the US’ book and NEVER do that twist again. Terrible terrible terrible. I am obsessed with Big Brother and even auditioned out for the show, but I dont think I can watch this season anymore if Gary and Topaz are gone. #worsttwistever

For the most part I was very impressed with how BB CANADA had gone down… Until tonight, that is. This was irrefutably one of the worst twists in big brother history as it compromised the whole integrity if the game, with topazs whole strategy completely jeopardized. I, like many other fans of the show, am now considering not watching the show in the future. And honestly and truly I never thought I would say that about big brother. They basically screwed over topaz… For what? Extra viewership? More drama? There are other ways to achieve these things without disgusting the fans! I’m not even a topaz supporter but to say this twist was an injustice would be an understatement!!

I’m no Topaz fan, but this twist is incredibly unfair and stupid. Not only was Topaz’s entire game revealed, by showing the house guests everything she had to say, but the two nominee’s did not get a fair shot at playing for veto. Seems fishy.. producers are up to something. Overall, pretty disappointed at Big Brother Canada as a show.

I will say that this episode was very entertaining and I’m enjoying this season immensely after being pretty disinterested from the get go. Now for the twist, it was pretty much BS that AJ and Andrew did not get to play for a veto. Come on, they can play a veto during a double eviction within minutes so there is no reason not to give them a chance to save themselves. As far as Topaz pretty much completely ruining her whole game, it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Most of the blame goes to Topaz for talking out loud (why???) but a little to the producers for not letting her know that she was not speaking in private. I guess unless explicitly stated assume you are not speaking in private. Hell if I was a contestant on the show I’d think twice about telling the truth in the diary room now. Maybe Topaz thought she was giving a show to the audience at home. Really inexplicable. Moving forward best move for the house is to get out Gary. He’s a comp threat and nobody will be able to trust Topaz moving forward, she is on borrowed time now.

I am getting tired of all the interruptions with the twists but I have to admit that I never laughed so hard like I did watching this episode! Best quote of the night goes to Emmett, “Balling like you’re in the grocery store and can’t get Fruit Loops”!! Then comes Gary, “oh so now you are calling me FAT”!!
I’m going to miss AJ, Topaz just sealed her own faith and Gary needs to stop being such a drama queen!! Little kids around the world are going to bed hungry every night so grow a spine, at least you have slop!

I liked the topaz twist but did not like the live after dark feed being turned off or that you are trying to sway the outcome. Gary, be real, “a game is just a game”.
