‘The X Factor’ UK notes: Little Mix, Niall Horan, and Simon Cowell

X Factor NewsFor today’s “X Factor” notes, we are sticking solely to the version of the show from across the pond, and we’ll start with the news that we long expected: how Simon Cowell may be serving as a judge on the upcoming tenth season of the show, even without being in the United Kingdom.

According to a report from The Sun, Simon is heavily considering joining the live rounds as a judge via satellite, that way he can continue to mentor his contestants on the American version of the show while at the same time offering up opinions on the contestants overseas. This would hopefully give the show a ratings bump for its tenth anniversary in the UK, and would also certainly generate headlines.

Here is what a source told the publication about the move:

“Simon knows that the viewers in the UK want him back on the show and he wants to make the tenth anniversary of The X Factor really special.¬†Without being arrogant, he knows that if he is on the show, it will get higher ratings. He has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be a judge on both versions but it would mean travelling thousands of miles each week. It is impossible. He is working to find a decent compromise. He will still have his panel of four judges but he will be the extra factor.”

Will this really help to boost ratings? We don’t know; to us, it would just take away time from the contestants and disrupt chemistry, and we’re not sure that Simon is worth that.

A pair of videos – Now, let’s share some fun related to some of the show’s most-popular groups. First and foremost, here’s a teaser from Little Mix about their upcoming “How Ya Doin'” music video featuring Missy Elliot premiering later this week. The girls are currently on a tour of America trying to do the same thing that One Direction did around this time last year.

Also, be sure to check out a pretty fascinating video from Niall Horan of One Direction performing an acoustic version of “Little Things” while in his home country of Ireland. He was there for his brother’s wedding, and decided to do an impromptu performance for some fans at a local pub.

If you want to see some more fun courtesy of Simon Cowell with Ant & Dec this weekend, you can do so by heading on over to the link here.
