‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Emblem3, Carly Rose Sonenclar, and Fifth Harmony (again)
Does this “X Factor” notes title seem like a broken record? Well, it should. There are not very many occasions in which we find ourselves writing about the same three artists as we did in our most-recent edition, but this is the position that we nonetheless find ourselves in here. Luckily, the reason why is just because these three have clearly been up to the most over the course of the past several days, beginning with Emblem3 relying on the public in order to determine where they are going to next.
In a new video on YouTube (which you can see below), Keaton, Drew, and Wes explain how you can tweet to them using a special hashtag, that way they can figure out where they want to visit next in order to see some of their fans. They have taken a pretty unique approach to post-tour life as of late, and have tried to hit the road as much as possible to build up a following while they prepare their major-label debut.
Carly’s kind words – Since we wrote earlier about will.i.am on the British version of “The Voice,” we caught a tweet that he wrote to Carly Rose Sonenclar after she had a few kind words about his hit “Scream & Shout” with Britney Spears:
“@CarlyRoseMusic you have an amazing gift…your a superstar talent and you should of won XFACTOR…don’t stop being wonderful #letsWORK“
Considering that the Black Eyed Peas frontman also worked recently with Justin Bieber, we really can’t stress enough the importance of having a guy like this in your corner. If he believes in you, he has the talent and the contacts to help make you into a star. We’d also love to see him on the American “X Factor” next year, just in case Simon Cowell is reading this. (He’s a pretty entertaining judge.)
Fifth Harmony – There you have it: a picture of the girls while having fun at the Happiest Place on Earth. Can we say how much we love the random goofy pictures? It certainly helps make the group feel more relatable than if they acted like egomaniacs who were too cool to have any fun.

danni i wasnt aware that they had more than 1 major hit lol…and i listen to a top 40 station pretty regularly. im not saying i dont like 1D, theyre cool guys. but they seem to appeal more to 12 year olds. i think emblem3 has the potential to appear to a much broader audience. i think they have a more mature, and lasting style and sound. just my opinion of course

Alex, define “hit” 1D have had more than one, more than two of their songs on the Billboard charts at the same time. I’ve only heard the acoustic version of Emblem3’s first single Chloe, so really until their studio music is released I can’t say one way or the other. All I know is they agreed to go a more pop route than they would have normally. They seem happy with it so we’ll see. I do agree with your assessment on Carly.

hey Danni, it wont be hard for emblem3 to surpass one direction’s success lol..just sayin. no offense to any 1D fans but theyve only really had 1 hit song, and their other single is crappy. 1D’s days are numbered, probably gonna end up being a 1 hit wonder. i think emblem3 might have the potential to be more than a 1 hit wonder. and guys, dont worry, carly will be coming out with an album this year, shes been working on it officially since january, and before that she already had several songs written of her own. she probably has enough material of her own to come out with 2 or 3 albums

@Sally. Carly has been in the studio this last month making a album and she is signed by Syco!
She is working with Toby Gad, Autumn Rowe and a few more great people in the music branch.
She also made 2 great cover songs this last 2 months, last one is Runaway baby by Bruno Mars.

@Sally. yes i wholeheartedly agree with you. im a big carly fan i want an album soon. But the general consensus seems to be that labels dont want to approach her because she’s not going for a pop sound. She’s made that pretty clear multiple times. She’s not a cookie cutter pop act. So i was merely saying they should at least develop her. hmm astro seems to be doing ok. He is signed to Epic but hasn’t released anything nor have they announced any plans to. But he’s releasing mixtapes produced independently. His fans still follow him and he’s gaining a big underground hiphop following and is filming a movie with liam neeson. Carly could even work as an independent artist.

@Ben Have you seen her fans? They want an album now! I don’t think their willing to wait six years for Carly’s album to come out. Most artists today don’t spend a lot of time working on their albums anymore. Most artist try to release a new album every year or every second year. No one knew who Jessie J. was, but so many people know who Carly is. So can’t have years to work on an album because the fans want it now or they will lose interest in her. And it’s very rare for artists to spend years making an album now.

@Sally they could still sign her now and just continue to develop her and have her spend a couple of years writing/recording material. E.g. Jessie J released her debut album when she was 22 and blew up immediately. But did you know she was actually signed when she was 16 and spent 6 years writing/recording that album?

@Emblem Forever, I know what Emblem3 stand for and as I said, I hope they do very well. If they rival or surpass 1D’s success I’ll be very happy for them. The reality is that although their fan base is growing quickly and they are out there promoting their new single, there is another act that is gaining as much if not more media attention and there fan base growing at a much faster rate without having released a single or without their management’s promoting their music. Anyway, The “buzz” I’m referring to isn’t even that, it’s coming from the music industry.

No one is signing Carly because they know that she doesn’t sing pop, and pop is the most sold music today. Any well known record company will make her sound more pop. And everyone saying how Simon should be paying more attention to Carly instead of E3 and 5H, he knows that they will make money for him. Simon has always focused on the contestants that have the most star quality. Simon hardly ever focuses on the winners. Tate will go bye bye. Her best chance is to wait till she’s older and have more control on how the record company presents her.

@Danni Emblem3 only started in the studio at the beginning of January, and yes Emblem3 are the buzz. X Factor was all about star quality, and being marketable, which they have. Have you heard of Team Inspire, they really are trying to inspire people. And to all the people that say they can’t sing, they have done many acoustic performances at radio stations, which proves they can sing. And do you think life is easy for them? Their getting chased by fans everywhere. No one thought that One Direction would be so huge and it turns out they are. I’m not comparing them, but Emblem3 should get the same level of success.

@Emblem Forever, Emblem3 were in the studio months before 5H and at least one month before Carly started recording so of course they should be releasing their music first. I’m pretty sure that was Simon’s plan. Emblem3 was also an established band, already had a small fan base, had their own music, and had been performing it years before they appeared on XFactor. Xfactor just gave them a chance to showcase and with a larger fan base (growing) and a management team behind them, are taking basically the same show on the road. As for TV appearances and interviews, they’ve done some limited promotional stuff for their new single. They’re doing great and I wish them all the best but if you think they’re the “buzz”, well you just aren’t paying attention. Those on the train or willing to get on, are going to have a fun ride!!

That’s great to hear Alex, I’m sure that made your day/month maybe even year being a big fan. That’s been her approach to every event/venue I’ve seen her in and how she interacts with her fans, genuinely very appreciative of their support and gracious with her time. 5H and E3 have been the same way….so nobody should believe any of these catty children who claim to say one of these contestants is mean, b%tchy, rude, stuck-up or otherwise.

david i totally agree with u, i met carly at her parade and at dave and busters and she is the sweetest thing. i know firsthand that anyone who talks ish about carly is full of it. carly doesnt know me from a can of paint but absolutely made my day and spoke to me, hugged me and listened to me talk a mile a minute about how amazing she is and she just laughed and listened to me and thanked me for my support which meant the world to me. even tho she has millions of fans now and millions who worship her like i do, she still treated me like i was a friend to her and that was priceless. ill be one of her carly’s angels for life

Had to write another quick post because the extent some of the people on this site go to bash these contestants when they have no idea what they’re talking about is crazy. I’m completing an internship with a well known Southern California based social media company and have covered the X Factor contestants, met them back stage during the show and have even covered a couple of events post X Factor and none of the contestants have the personalities or character traits many of you think say they do. At this point they’re all very appreciative of their fans and have been very generous with their time on and off the camera. I’ve covered Carly more than any of them because she has a larger social media presence and she is a sweetheart. After her parade she stopped to take pictures with fans and in her private party upstairs she did every interview that was asked of her, took pictures with everyone who wanted them and ended up staying nearly an hour and a half longer because some of the people invited to the private party were running late. The only person that was ignored was a crazed female fan, probably in her 40’s with her daughter or niece screaming at everyone who had a wrist band to get in to the private party wanting to know how to get access to the private party….the police eventually escorted her out of the restaurant. All my interaction with the contestants up to this point has been positive so unless I witness otherwise I don’t have anything negative to say about any o them.

Emblem3′s single Chloe is coming out in April, while their album is coming out in Spring/Summer 2013! Out of all the X Factor USA contestants their making the most process! Their have already made some appearances on television and have done some radio interviews! Emblem3 are also picking their next tour dates right now, another tour! Looks like it will be a busy year for Emblem3! :)

Don’t most superstars end up as douches? Like Justin Bieber, everyone says he’s SO NICE, but my friend went to a meet and greet and she only got 5 seconds with him, and he didn’t say a word to her. I have a feeling Simon will change Carly’s image, and make her second more pop. Cher Lloyd didn’t very pop on X Factor, now all her songs scream pop. Justin Bieber’s videos on YouTube had some R&B, but all his songs are very pop now too. One Direction on X Factor didn’t sound very pop either, but look at them now, POP STARS. When entering X Factor or the music industry you will end up making pop music because it is the most sold music and record companies only care of making money.

I had the opportunity to meet the contestants during the XFactor and they’re all very kind and humble individuals…and very supportive of each other. Lauren’s brother said those things out of jealousy it had nothing to do with Lauren or Fifth Harmony. Carly is equally as kind hearted in person and back stage, she goes out of her way to do things for her fans not to mention the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Anything else you hear is just that hearsay. Children will be immature children as evidenced by the majority of the little jealous girls on here, either fans bashing 5H, E3 or Carly depending on who you support. Your perception of someone should only change when that person does something to you or publicly that says otherwise. So far none of the contestants have been anything but professional. If you’re going to hate on someone because of where they live or because they are shy in interviews then the only advice I can give is that’s a personal problem and you’re wasting energy being jealous.

Carly is an exceptional human being even at 13yo, before *and* after she became a super star. The Sonenclar family (Bob, Terri, Russel and Carly) should be a model for us Americans and the world. Nobody is perfect, but the stuff that has been brought up here don’t even apply to the Sonenclars.

I don’t know how anybody could believe that Carly wAs mean to Beatrice or Diamond! Watch the interview of Diamonds elimination party… Carly was so sad and many times referred to Diamond as her best friend! Go and Google “Carly Rose Sonenclar crying” and look at her hugging Beatrice crying away ! Maybe she was hugging her ’cause she just hates her so much ?? Yeah right ! People should get all their facts together before posting something like that about a sweet hearted little girl ! She’s my role model! And many other peoples too ! I’m proud to be A Carly’s angel ! I believe she’d be broken if she saw this !!

Benzir as annoying as it is that people spread hate about someone there is just no reason to go at any one else especially another young contestant until there are direct quotes that you can point blank ask the person about. And even then tread carefully on the subject. And when we bitch or spread negative words we should never hide behind the ability to be anonymous on the internet. Especially since we are talking children.

i meant jessie j by the way. 5H will flop. i don’t buy their chemistry for a second. Little Mix’s chemistry is so much more real and they don’t try to be anyone but themselves (as cliched/cheesy as that sounds). That’s why Little Mix were always ahead in the votes on x factor where no other girl group had previously been. Because they’re AUTHENTIC. 5H is like putting together 5 divas it ain’t gonna work. Why do you think they struggled with votes on multiple occasions? All 5H has is syco/epic. Yes epic has LA Reid whose track record speaks for itself but epic is a crap label none of the season 1 contestants that released stuff on epic did well. Also this is a bit of a deja vu where after season 1 everyone hated astro because he was too cocky/arrogant/disrespectful. Well that was just confidence built through the years of hard work he put in. Astro hasn’t released any stuff on epic but it doesn’t matter. All of his mixtapes are better than any of the music from the other contestants and he just landed a role in a big Liam Neeson movie. Similarly, people are talking crap about carly. Even though sony labels don’t seem to want to cosign her (most likely because she wants to do jazz/soul work and not be a little pop bitch like 5H) i know other labels would sign her in a heartbeat. Will.i.am would sign her straight away (just like how he publicly said he’d sign cher lloyd if she wanted) and Island/Def Jam would take her. I don’t see 5H or E3 signed to a major talent agency either. I bet in two years everyone’ll forget 5H and carly will be one of the biggest rising stars

Ofcourse us fans would ‘bother’ simon cowell to finalise her deal. She was the runner up and she should have priority over 5H and E3. I don’t see many stars that support E3 and 5H. Will.i.am has said on multiple occasions how much he loves carly and wants to work with her. On the other hand jessie made it pretty clear she didn’t like 5H when she tweeted saying diamond shouldn’t have been eliminated and she’s pissed that judges always make decisions like that. I refuse to believe drew a 20yo said this stuff about carly to a group of strangers but if he did then shame on him. Also Lauren is the biggest diva. I could tell she didn’t like carly nor does she probably like half the people on X factor. I never liked Lauren very much she always had a real brattish vibe. She always get the lead role in their singing and be the spokesperson. IMO the lead should be dinah and the spokesperson should be ally. Ally is the most likeable and charismatic in 5H and not annoying unlike some of the others.

Tammy, a lot of well to do rich kids volunteer for charities.. it makes their parents feel good. But a lot of them still aren’t nice in person. I encounter them on the upper east side in NY all the time. You never hear complaints about anyone else from the xfactor but carly. Whether it was at her parade, ed sheeran concert, or somewhere else. Now people who actually were with her for 3 months are finally saying what is obvious to everyone else. And Tedcos, when people see you as stuck up–its a bad thing. No one likes it. I think its how she takes pictures with fans. She seems annoyed or irritated to be taking a picture. She hardly smiles and seems unhappy or sad all the time. Even when she sings, she’s not happy. She should just stay in school and when she’s 17,18 she can try superstardom because she clearly isn’t ready for it now. Carly fans are always bothering simon cowell and thexfactorusa for getting Carly a co-label. Everyone can see she’s talented, but she’s not ready.

Carly is a sweet girl but even if she wasn’t for Drew or Lauren’s Family to be talking to strangers about her just shows how immature those doing the talking are and it even borders cyber bullying of a 13 year old girl. It’s sickening to be honest. And the people coming onto places like this and posting 2nd and 3rd hand info are even worse. Go live your own life. You don’t have to like Carly but leave her a lone and go talk up the people you like.

I’ve got news for you . No one is perfect . In a competition where there is one person who is so clearly levels above the others , there is bound to be jealousy . Young men are not much better . Remember E3 were a constant problem for XF producers so take anything that comes out of his mouth with a grain of salt . Also some girls just can’t cope with someone being better which Carly is . Whether Carly is a little bit snobby , who cares? Seems a bit like clutching at straw . Nothing is going to stop Carly being a big star . That is why all these top witers and singers are lining up to work with her . Get a Life . Carly is outstanding . Grow Up Deal with it .

I actually like Carly. I really think it’s mean how far people will go to smear her or make her seem a certain way. Remember the x factor wasn’t just a singing competition. It was a reality show. So they had to portray people a certain way. I have met Carly. At a Little Mix event in New York. She was very nice and gave audition advice to this one girl who asked. She’s a total sweetheart.

I refuse to believe in speculation and heresay. I love fifth harmony. They are against bullying and they’ve made this clear. They have nothing but nice things to say about carly. Like Dinah says carly has a cute personality. And Camila said she loves Carly. And I call BS on this Beatrice stuff. Go on Beatrice Miller’s instagram now. She just posted a pic of her , Diamond, and Carly. And she’s been posting pics saying she misses carly and that the 3 musketeers (Bea, Carly, Diamond) need to reunite. So eff off with your lies Farrah. I don’t know if Drew said any of that stuff, to strangers no less at a airport. But they seem to like Carly and have said so in interviews. So yes, Drew needs to refute these liars and block their twitter if he knows these girls are lying. Otherwise own up to your words so we can call bullsh*t on your team inspire. I’m a fan of E3, 5H and Carly’s, but I’ve never read or heard a negative word from Carly about these groups that I bet she thought were her friends. You’ll all release your albums and you’ll all get your sales…why isn’t that enough? As many have pointed out, she is 13…why all the Carly haters? Whatever. Who cares what school Lauren goes to. What everyone in the 5H fandom knows is that Lauren’s friends are all different from Camila’s. Laurens friends hate us. Like Alexa told us to “get lives.” And Erica Timmons said 5H fans were “weird as hell.” And Mike (lauren’s dad) is always blocking 5h fans for cursing. Like hasn’t he seen Lauren’s tweets before x factor? She was f bombing. Plus Camila’s friends can take jokes, Lauren can’t. Lauren unfollows a lot of 5h accounts trying to be funny, but she sees it as disrespectful. Lauren is a little to sassy sometimes. Join the 5th Harmony fandom, you’ll see. We always talk about how they can’t joke or how rude they are sometimes. BY the way, I never liked Drew Chadwick or Emblem 3. so this whole thing seems weird. I thought he liked carly, he had pictures on instagram of her saying he misses her. Lol.

Sorry Danni. Anyone that goes to school at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart where Lauren goes is never on a full scholarship. They only do partial scholarship. I go there that’s how I know. So she pays like 13,000 a year. And her brother attends as well. She lives in a nice house with a big pool. Her mom’s family is the one wealthy.

Yeah, I was going to stay out of it but I just can’t let Anonymous spread falsehoods. Lauren is on a full scholarship and her parents aren’t rich. Her dad works construction. And as far as what the friends or family members have to say about Carly, that should not reflect on Lauren. She nor any of the other girls of 5H have ever uttered or tweeted a mean word to or about any of the contestants so leave them out of this mess. As for who knows what, both friends and family spent a very long time in the same house as all the contestants. We’ll really never know fact from fiction unless someone spills. Let it go!

I take What Lauren’s family and friends were saying about Carly with a grain of salt. Carly was a big threat to 5H. You said it so yourself that Austin was annoyed at Erica’s comment so he disagree? Besides, Erica can b..ch all she wants for Carly being from Westchester, but at least Carly still goes to public school unlike Erica & Lauren who go to 20K private school. Guess whose families is also rich? And guess who’s more elitist, a girl who goes to public school or one who gets sent to private school?

I am not lying about Lauren’s brother and Lauren’s friends saying that about carly. Ask any harmonizer. Chris jauregui (@chrisjauregui2) was saying those things about carly during the x factor. And then Erica Timmons, Lauren’s friend (@ericatimms) says bad things about carly. Ask Austin Leyritz (@austin_leyritz), who is a carly supporter his dad’s a baseball player with the yankees, he follows and is friends with erica. Erica said that if carly was on disney channel she would say: hi, I’m carly rose, the Bi*tch from westchester. I always figured that these guys never met carly so it was Lauren’s opinon of carly. I know Austin is annoyed by the comments about carly. Sorry. Maybe she isn’t nice.? That would suck.

In what ur saying … it can’t really be true?! I just can’t get my head around that one, especially when she does charity for disadvantaged children. It just doesn’t add up! Surely, she wouldn’t be bunging it on – surely not! Carly doesn’t come across that way. By experience, I’m very cautious about matters of gossiping teenagers on twitter etc., some can be very nasty. Anyway, ‘Everything comes out in the wash’ @ the end they say. So maybe one day we might see who’s really been telling the truth. I’ll be very disappointed though, if what u say is true.

Claire, for all the people that say that she’s not nice, there are plenty of others who said that she’s a sweetheart. So allow me to doubt when contestants competing against her say that she’s not nice. If (big if) Drew did say it, then he, as an adult, had no business talking about a 13 year-old behind her back. Just shows his immaturity.

Dana, it’s not really a rumor if a lot of people are saying she isn’t nice. Drew isn’t the only person who is saying it. And I too never bought her nice girl act.

I checked the timelines. ..@screwthelouis says: “im actually loling because in an interview, Drew said Carly was the nicest person in the universe”..and @brendasolangeee says: “I don’t even know what to think of Carly Rose Sonenclar anymore after today” …so this sort of changes my opinon of her. I guess there were signs tho. I mean looking at her stage it, she didn’t seem all that nice and she slapped her brother’s hand just for clapping after they performed ed sheeran’s song. And right before she sang “Imagine”, she acted bratty and slapped her dad’s arm when she was worried about playing piano. I’m telling my 7,000 twitter followers.

If what Farrah wrote is true and Drew did say that Carly was mean, then I have to congratulate you, Farrah and Drew for “inspiring” the young generation to be mean and spreading rumors. TeamInspire is about inspiring young people, but it looks like it is more about an adult spreading rumors and back stabbing a 13 year-old. Shame!

As a 5H fan, I’m glad the girls r havng fun. As for this rumor, I’m a little torn mainly becuz I defended Carly when Lauren Jauregui’s brother Chris made fun of Carly and “who’s gonna buy her kid bopz cd” line. I also defended Carly when Lauren’s friends make fun of Carly. Like back in January, @Ericatimms, said that if Carly was ever on Disney she would probably say: ” hi, I’m carly rose, the bi*ch from westchester.” I always figured they were being mean. But now I always hear that carly isn’t a nice person especially when she was at the x factor. But she does charity. I don’t know. If Lauren’s friends and Beatrice’s friends, and now Drew saying that about Carly, I’m disappointed in Carly. Idg it. If you want to be a star, you probably should be nice.

It doesn’t take a genuis to figure that out Farrah. I mean watch any of Carley’s interviews with popstop tv or clevvertv, she seems annoyed or arrogant or stuck-up. I didn’t buy her nice girl act bc she’s from rye neck. Girls from westchester have a ton of attitude and are known to be mean. It’s that upper-middle class environment. They all act like snobs or they’re whiny rich kids. I always liked Bea and Diamond anyway. Plus everyone (xfactr contestants) showed up to support E3 at their concert except Carley.

Isn’t Drew Chadwick from Emblem 3 always talking about team inspire? Was all of it a lie? BS? I thought Emblem 3 and their fans were against bullying? You had me fooled. If this is what Drew said, then he just went against everything he stood for. And must I remind you that Drew is an adult. He’s 20. Carly is 13. She’s basically a baby. I’m 18 and I like 5H and Carly. So I come on here for happy news, not this bullying BS.

One question Farrah: why the bleep would Drew tell a bunch of strangers he never met before until that day intimate details of how carly rose is like as a person? Maybe they are lying. Btw Drew is 20, Carly is 13. Shame on him if he’s putting down a 13 yr old. And just last week Drew was praising Carly, so idk if I believe what those girls are saying.

.Remember when you carly fans were asking what drew said about carly at the chicago airport? Well I know. Drew said that Carly was a little mean, esp to Beatrice during the x factor run. That Carly wasn’t that nice of a person. I think this is why Lauren Jauregui doesn’t like carly too. So apparently those rumors of carly being stuck up, not nice, and mean are actually true. So now carly wants to pretend to be nice.
