While “The Big Bang Theory” has assembled a pretty crazy array of guest stars over the course of their run on TV, it’s hard to imagine that many of them have made the same sort of impact as one Bob Newhart. The sitcom recently announced that they had booked him in the role of a former TV science-show star that Sheldon Cooper hires out to come to his apartment, which is basically some bizarre form of wish-fulfillment. (We like to think of this as the show’s version of Bill Nye the Science Guy, if Bill Nye was actually on hard time in real life.)
While there are certainly some cast and crew members on the show who have freaked out over getting to work with Leonard Nimoy and Stephen Hawking, it was Kaley Cuoco who seemed to be among the most enamored of working with Newhart. You can check out a picture she shared of herself with the legendary comedy actor over at her Instagram page, and it included the following caption:
“Just working w comedic legends such as #bobnewhart just amazing.”
This sort of guest spot is surely going to only make what is TV’s highest-rated comedy even more successful, as there will be people who are not even fans of “The Big Bang Theory” watching just to see if Bob still has it.
On a different note, we thought we would point out to all prospective Melissa Rauch fans out there that her new Twitter handle is now actually @MelissaRauch, so no sitting around and wondering. Oh, and as you probably know already if you follow executive producer Bill Prady (as people constantly bombard him with questions on it), neither Jim Parsons nor Johnny Galecki is on the social-networking site.
What do you want to see happen with Newhart? If you want to hear what Kunal Nayyar has to say about the future of Raj on “The Big Bang Theory,” you can do so over here.
