‘Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites’ preview: The Four Horsemen 2.0

Malcolm FrebergWhile there have been a number of “Survivor” seasons to feature women’s alliances, and even two in Micronesia and One World to have a final four comprised of just ladies, there really hasn’t been a successful alliance built up of several alpha males that goes deep into the game. The only time that it has really been attempted for any long span of time was the Four Horsemen in Fiji, and that ended when Dreamz turned on Alex, Mookie, and Edgardo and changed the course of what was nonetheless a pretty awful season.

So does this alliance being formed on “Survivor Caramoan: Fans vs. Favorites” make a little bit more sense? On paper, it seems like it. You have Malcolm and Reynold, who each have immunity idols, and you also have two guys in Erik and Eddie who are challenge beasts. Perhaps the best part of this alliance, though, is that nobody would really expect the Fans and the Favorites to work together so early in the game.

For Malcolm, this plan makes complete sense, especially when you remember that one of his mistakes last year was trusting people who weren’t exactly alpha males to take him to the end. Malcolm, Eddie, or Erik may be more privy to do so, and it lessens the pressure for him to have to win every immunity challenge under the sun.

But will this sort of pact actually work? That is what will be difficult. Erik likely has ties still with Brenda stemming from an early alliance this season, and Malcolm himself does seem to be interested in keeping Andrea around. These two ladies are both pretty smart, and they could actually figure this out and stab someone in the back.

What do you think: could a four-guy alliance work on “Survivor” like it did for the Brigade in “Big Brother”? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can also check out some of our recent contestant rankings by heading on over to the link here.
