‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Daniel Gillies on surprising return of Elijah

If you love Elijah on “The Vampire Diaries,” there is some good news coming out now: you really don’t have to wait much longer. Daniel Gillies will be back in action for the new episode airing on Thursday night entitled “American Gothic,” and in some ways we are going to see the Elijah that so many came to love during his last two appearances on the show. However, at the same time you have to be prepared for at least a few things that surprise you.

Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gillies does his best to elaborate on this very thing, as we end up meeting his character in a waint part of Pennsylvania that may or may not be related to the story of Elena, Katherine, and Rebekah (which, of course, means the cure is also going to be very much involved):

“All I can say is tune in, because Elijah’s gonna shock and possibly even horrify a few. In fact, I’ll say he’s gonna horrify many. But franky, I don’t care. I think what he’s doing is wonderful.”

In addition to this, we also have the following comments coming in now from executive producer Julie Plec:

“The first glimpse of Elijah, your heart explodes, you’re so happy to see him. And he is quintessential Elijah, dressed in his beautiful suit with his lovely demeanor, and, as always, trying to find ways to keep Klaus in his place and keep his family together.”

Ultimately, be sure to know that we are going to be seeing plenty more of Elijah in the future, but on the spin-off show “The Originals.” After all, the actor has already signed on to be one of the series’ new stars.
