‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: First promo names Trinity, Miguel Prado, and more
While the just-released promo for the eighth season of “Dexter” curiously makes no mention at all of the fact that this is supposedly the show’s final season, it does do a rather good job at something else: reminding us of all of the dead bodies that have come before on the show.
The incredibly creepy teaser (which you can watch over at TVLine) does an extremely effective job at listing off all of the slayers’ victims, including those he killed directly (Brian Moser, Arthur Mitchell, and Miguel Prado, just to name a few), but also people like James Doakes, Rita Bennett, and most recently Maria LaGuerta, who died as a result of his actions but at the hands of someone else. This is a sad promo just from the standpoint of looking at the main character’s high body count, but it is also very effective in showing that producers still very much remember every body that has fallen at the hands of Dexter Morgan thus far.
Even more importantly than all of this, the promo makes it very clear that Dexter is not done yet, as there are many more potential victims out there for him and the people close to him to interact with. Some new faces for the season include Charlotte Rampling as a psychotherapist who helps to analyze sociopaths and Sean Patrick Flanery, who will be taking on a key part as a private investigator.
We’re going to take this promo for the time being as a sign of hope that Showtime will remember to acknowledge some of the current loose ends that Dexter has floating around out there moving forward, including Ramon Prady, Lumen Pierce, and of course Hannah McKay from last season.
Do you think looking at the past is a great way to talk about Dexter’s future? If you want to read up on some other changes for the new season, you can do so over at the link here.
