‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4, episode 18 preview: Nina Dobrev vs. herself
Ever since Katherine returned to “The Vampire Diaries” earlier on during season 4, you had to hope that this was going to be happening: the epic showdown between her and the other character played by Nina Dobrev in Elena. Katherine currently has the cure, after all, and this very thing is suddenly the most powerful tool out there in the vampire world. Think of it as the Iron Throne of medicine: everyone wants it, and is willing to do very bad things in order to make it happen.
After all, how else do you explain Elena completely losing it on Damon? She not only ditched him with the help of Rebekah in New York City this week, but it took the two of them snapping his neck in order to make it happen. The violence is not going to stop there, either, as Dobrev is literally going to have the opportunity to fight herself in a pretty unique scene. (Almost sounds like a great premise for a music video, no?)
As for what the brothers Salvatore are going to do in order to try to reel her in now, your guess is as good as ours. Damon has to more or less come back to Stefan with his tail between his legs, admitting that his plan ultimately did not work out anywhere near the way in which that he had hoped it would: not only is Elena’s humanity switch still off, but she is more dangerous than ever. It’s possible that they could seek extra help to deal with this problem, but the issue here is that they clearly don’t want the girl they both once loved to die at their hands; they just want to get her somewhere close to the girl they knew (which may or may not be possible).
