‘Justified’ season 4 spoilers: Will Ellen May destroy Boyd and Ava?

This week’s episode of “Justified” season 4 felt an awful lot like a season finale now that Drew Thompson has been safely sent off to Lexington and that whole storyline is pretty well wrapped up, but there are still two more episodes left for the season – so what will the focus be now that Drew is captured?

We get the feeling that the main focus for the rest of the season is really going to be put on Boyd and Ava and what happens to them now.  Boyd has lost Drew Thompson and therefore lost his entire life savings that he planned on buying a home with for Ava and their future children.  Losing Thompson also means that Boyd’s in even hotter water with Nicky and Theo and now that there’s no chance of getting Thompson back, Boyd and Ava may have to go on the run.  Also there is the Johnny situation – not only does Ava know that Johnny has betrayed them, but he’s apparently in love with her too.  So what should we expect to see in the next episode of “Justified” season 4?

Executive producer, Graham Yost, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the next episode saying that we will see what happens with Boyd and Ava right out of the gate.  He said: “You’ll see in the next episode, right from the top, Ava, Boyd, and Colt have found each other. Plus Jimmy returns. Boyd knows everything.”

There is also another big threat that is still looming over Boyd and Ava and that is Ellen May.  When we last saw Ellen May she was being held captive by Limehouse who offered to sell her back to Boyd and Ava for $300,000, but instead of spending their cash on her, they bought Drew Thompson back.  Ellen May was so upset that she had been spending all this time protecting Ava and Boyd only to have them abandon her in her time of need that she spit in Ava’s face, so we expect there to be some repercussions from that choice.  Yost reveals that the Ellen May storyline definitely isn’t over yet, saying: “We have this big story to wrap up about Ellen May, and then 13, it’s how do we really tighten the screws on our main cast — Raylan, Boyd, and Ava, etc.? The next episodes are more contained, but they have some huge, huge character moves.”
