‘American Idol’s’ Jessica Sanchez gets ‘Glee’ debut date; will have Charice-like role

Jessica SanchezFor those of you eagerly awaiting the news as to when Jessica Sanchez was going to finally cross over from “American Idol” to “Glee,” we now have the information for your reading pleasure below.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the reigning runner-up is going to make her debut on the Ryan Murphy musical comedy on May 2, where she will be playing the role of a “legendary’ singer who leads a rival glee club. Basically, this is the same sort of part that we have seen from such people as Charice Pempengco and “The Glee Project” season 1 alum Lindsay Pearce. In addition to being in this episode, she will also appear during the finale the following week.

While some original reports suggested that Sanchez’s role on the show could last a little longer, we have a feeling that some things related to both her recording schedule and the show’s story ended up causing the order to be just the last two episodes of the season, but this is still something that the teen sensation has to be rather thrilled about. After all, her debut album “Me, You, & the Music” will be on stores on May 7, which is wedged right between the two episodes. She will also be performing her new single “Tonight” on “American Idol” Thursday night along with Ne-Yo, and we now know that this song is going to be made available right away to anyone who hears it on the show. (A smart way to launch the song, no?)

What do you think about Sanchez getting to stop by for the end of “Glee” this season, and do you like the role? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below, and you can listen to some music from Thursday night’s “Guilty Pleasures” episode over at the link here.
