‘Justified’ season 4, episode 11 review: Did Boyd steal Drew Thompson from Raylan?
On tonight’s episode of “Justified” season 4, now that Raylan has finally captured Drew Thompson he is now faced with the daunting task of getting him out of Harlan County alive.
With Theo on a rampage about Thompson being captured by the US Marshall’s, Wynn Duffy had the smarts to skip town, but Boyd has decided that he is going to try and work something out with Nicky. After much negotiation Boyd and Nicky have figured out a way to head Raylan off at the pass and get Thompson back for Theo.
The Marshall’s have sent out a decoy convoy to fake out anyone looking to grab Drew Thompson while Raylan and Thompson wait at Arlo’s place to be air lifted out, but when Tim feels that the operation has been compromised, they call Raylan and tell him to move Thompson (they move him to a high school)
Tim stops the convoy and calls Colton, who is up in the bushes with a trained sniper (one of Nicky’s guys) on their convoy. After a brief exchange of words on the phone between Colton and Tim about the situation they are in, Tim tells the convoy to get out of their line formation and use the cars to box themselves in so that they have protection to hide behind and hopefully find a way out of the situation. Once Tim and company gets out of trouble and drives away to go help Raylan, Colton takes out Nicky’s sniper that came with him and heads back.
Colton calls Boyd and Nicky to tell them that the plan to take out the convoy didn’t work out. The more Boyd thinks about the situation and Harlan County in general he realizes that the one place Raylan would likely take Thompson would be their old high school, because they once had an astronaut come to the school and land a helicopter on the baseball diamond, so he knows the space is there for Raylan to get picked up.
Boyd heads out to the school with one of Nicky’s men to bring Thompson back to Theo, but after a short conversation between Boyd and Raylan, Boyd realizes he needs to get more men down there if he wants to take Thompson out of there. When Boyd returns to the high school with back up they find that Thompson is gone – Raylan put him on a coal train out of town with another Marshall. Boyd and Nicky’s men leave the high school when they hear Tim and the cavalry coming to the rescue, leaving Raylan as the winner and Boyd once again getting the short end of the stick.
Back at the bar Ava tries to set Nicky up to get shot by Johnny, but as she tries to signal Johnny and he doesn’t make the move, Nicky calls Johnny out saying that he made a deal with Wynn Duffy and that she’s on her own. She gets out of the situation by grabbing Nicky’s gun and backing out the door, but Johnny pulls a gun on her and threatens to kill her – in the end he can’t pull the trigger and tells Ava that he loves her (which was totally weird and not expected).
Now that Boyd has lost Thompson twice how do you think Theo react? What will Boyd do once he finds out that Johnny not only betrayed him, but also put Ava in danger and pulled a gun on her? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think will happen in the last two episodes of “Justified” season 4.
