‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers: Desiree Hartsock’s first night is over

DesireeWell, the folks behind “The Bachelorette” are moving rather quickly! Less than a full week after Sean Lowe’s season came to a formal conclusion with the proposal to Catherine Giudici, the new season featuring Desiree Hartsock front and center officially kicked off filming on Thursday night, when the leading lady held her first night inside of the mansion.

So what was the experience like? We’re short on specifics, and in some ways this is a good thing in that we’re not a spoiler site. Really, the one thing we are the most curious about right now is this: just how many of the guys who ended up on the cast were interested in being with her? Most of the men auditioned without having any clue who “The Bachelorette” was going to be, and this is the first time since Ashley Hebert’s season that we saw this happen. Then again, this may be a good thing given that this is also the last season where the start ended up marrying the person they picked at the end of the show (in J.P. Rosenbaum).

Executive producer Mike Fleiss did comment on the first night of filming, but unfortunately, it was with a message that could not be any more vague if he tried:

“Dez was great on night one. The guys really dig her…”

Desiree’s biggest challenge this coming season is probably just going to be finding a way to open up, which she struggled with at times with Sean, along with finding a way to make all of the men comfortable after what had to be the most awkward family visit in the history of the show. She has the makings of being a great series lead, but we also have a feeling that much of the show’s success is going to be very much dependent on the casting of the guys. You want a villain or two, but also plenty of others worth rooting for.

Ultimately, do you think that Desiree is going to do a good job as “The Bachelorette” this year? If you want to read about what some past leading ladies have to say about her, you can do so over at the link here.
