‘The Bachelor’: Sean Lowe not doing ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for fame

The moment that it was first announced that Sean Lowe was going to be a cast member on “Dancing with the Stars” this season, it was almost immediately that there was a flurry of speculation as to why in the world the former “Bachelor” would want to appear on the show. After all, he has barely had the time to enjoy being engaged to Catherine Giudici, especially when it comes to being in a public venue where the two can actually be out and be happy. Plus, the last time we saw a “Bachelor” go from one show directly to the other, it was Jake Pavelka … and that did not end particularly well.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of all is not that Sean is doing the show, but why. Speaking in a conference call Tuesday (per Us Weekly), the Texas businessman explained that really, he is interested in the opportunity to try something new more so than being a famous reality star or staying in the public eye:

“I don’t want the fame itself, but when an opportunity like Dancing With the Stars comes along, it’s too good to pass up … It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. And I wouldn’t have taken it had Catherine not been okay with it. She is fully supporting me. She’s in my corner. She’s going to be along in this crazy ride with me.”

Sean said that one of the hardest parts of his newfound fame, grateful as he is to have a new fiancee, is that he cannot even go out without having to take hundreds of pictures, and thus having no time to himself at all. Of course, there is also another reason that he is certainly doing the show that is not mentioned in the interview: money. Though he wants to go back to Dallas and have a normal life with Catherine once this is over, why not do it with some extra savings in your account?
