‘The Americans’ season 2: Susan Misner scores series regular role
Even though “The Americans” season 2 will not be on FX until the new year, we already have some news that should make fans of Susan Misner more than a little bit excited: the actress has just landed a major promotion to series regular. This change will come into play next year, but she will continue to recur through the rest of season 1 as Sandra, Stan Beeman’s wife who basically does whatever she is told to do.
In case you have seen Misner’s name on some other series as of late, there is a reason why: the actress is pretty much everywhere on TV these days. Not only has she been recurring as of late as the sister of Kevin Bacon’s Ryan Hardy on Fox’s “The Following,” but she has also played a love interest on “Person of Interest,” “Nashville,” and took on the role of Michael J. Fox’s wife on “The Good Wife.” While she has played a great deal of wife and sister characters (as obvious from the sentence above), what makes this part on “The Americans” intriguing is the amount of subtle depth that is attached to it.
While this series has not been a ratings smash for FX, it has performed to solid numbers, and you know that cable series traditionally have a longer period in which to develop themselves into potential hits. One such example of this is “Sons of Anarchy,” which has slowly and surely grown over time to the point where it is now the highest-rated series on the network (and not to mention one of the most-popular dramas on TV).
What do you think about this promotion, and are you excited to see what else the series has in store for this year? If you want to see the latest episode review for the show, you can do so here.
