‘Lost’ alum Naveen Andrews returns to ABC with ‘Reckless’ pilot
Back in “Lost” ended, we remember having serious concerns about whether or not any of these actors would ever be able to land other jobs thanks to their icon status. Luckily, since that time we have seen Michael Emerson, Daniel Dae Kim, Emilie de Ravin, Terry O’Quinn, Jorge Garcia, and many more land some full-time TV work. Not all of these shows lasted, at least they had an opportunity to succeed on a network.
Now, Naveen Andrews is joining his former co-star Josh Holloway in attempting to return to TV full-time. The actor has signed on to play a dangerous new part in the ABC pilot “Reckless,” which revolves around a man (“Almost Famous” star Patrick Fugit) trying to do everything he can to free his wife after she was imprisoned overseas during a time of great political unrest. Basically, it sounds a little bit like “Taken” meets “Homeland,” and these sorts of products are very popular right now.
As for how Andrews will fit into the show, he will play Roland, a very resourceful man who will be assisting Fugit’s character in doing everything he can to save his wife from her current fate.
Since “Lost,” Andrews’ only major credit has been appearing in seven episodes of the British family series “Sinbad.” We’re not sure on the likely success rate of this show getting picked up, mostly because ABC has done a pretty awful job post-“Lost” of keeping men in the fold. “Last Resort” was really its only show appealing to this demographic on the fall schedule, and it was not picked up beyond 13 episodes.
Andrews had long been listed as a fan favorite to play Aladdin on “Once Upon a Time,” though at 44 he feels a little old for that part.
