‘Mad Men’ season 6 promo: You are invited to the affair of the year
Fans of AMC’s hit show “Mad Men” have been eagerly awaiting any news, video, pictures, or spoilers for the highly anticipated 6th season of the show coming back early next month, so when we heard that a new promo was released to help promote the series premiere we couldn’t be more excited to see what season 6 had to offer.
After watching the newest promo for “Mad Men” season 6 (which you can check out below) we were of course disappointed (but not surprised) that the advertisement had no actual footage from the show, but was instead a series of black and white photos of the cast at some sort of fancy function that were released a few months back with the caption “You are invited to the affair of the year.”
“Mad Men” creator, Matthew Weiner, is notorious for not letting any spoilers leak before the show airs, in fact he’s so secretive that even the cast members don’t always know what’s going to happen to them until the day before they go onto set in hopes to stop a leak – like what happened to Jared Harris (the actor that played Lane Pryce). His character was killed off on season 5 and he had no idea until the day before that it was going to happen. While it’s nice to be surprised, at the same time it’s also nice to have a little anticipation build up for season 6 and by now we had hope that some sort of a promo would have been cut together that actually shows some of what’s coming up this season.
What we do know is that Megan Draper is still around (sorry Jessica Pare haters) and that Betty (January Jones) is said to have a bit of a bigger role this season. We have also seen photos of Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) on set, sporting a new modern hair style and clothing – seems that leaving SCDP was a good move for her. We are hoping to see an all out advertising war between Don Draper and his protege Peggy over season 6, because if anyone is going to be able to go toe to toe with Don it’s going to be Peggy.
“Mad Men” season 6 returns to AMC on Sunday, April 7th for a special 2 hour season premiere, so be sure to tune in and see what Don Draper has in store for us this year.
