Nobody likes to wait, right? After all evidence pointed to HBO airing the extended version of the “Game of Thrones” season 3 trailer on Sunday night prior to a new episode of “Girls,” the network has given us a rather lovely gift: the clip a full day early. The downside? Rather than being two minutes long, it is slightly less than a minute and a half.
The upside here is that, thankfully, many of the scenes that are included in this new trailer are rather fantastic. We have some new footage of both Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, and the entire trailer just seems to flow much better than it did during its original “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” airing. We wondered if HBO was forced to cut the trailer down for that late-night appearance … but was ABC really so desperate to hang on to those extra 20 seconds? We could have understood if we were talking about something that was a full two minutes long, but the length of the extended trailer in relation to the original surprises us a little bit.
One other aspect of this trailer that really stands out to us the more we watch it (and we’ve watched this more than just a few times to say the least) is just how chilling and powerful Cirian Hinds is iwth just one line as Mance Rayder. We already cannot imagine another actor in this role, and hopefully he can get the series back in some awards shows’ good graces after they suddenly decided to ignore the show for much of the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards (save for some love for the stunt cast in the latter show).
What do you think about this extended trailer? If you want to see Sansa, Jon, and some other characters on some colorful new posters, you can do so over here.
