‘Bones’ season 8 spoilers: Get ready to (finally) meet Booth’s mom
“Bones” has certainly taken its sweet time getting us to the point where we are set to meet Booth’s mom, but we finally have some great news: for the season 8 finale of the show, the wait will finally be over.
According to a new report from TV Guide, former “Blade Runner” actress Joanna Cassidy has been cast to play the part of Marianne Booth for at least this one episode (and possibly more, given how the story goes). What else do we know about the character? Not much, except for the fact that she abandoned her son 24 years ago, and that this appearance now is not going to be a particularly great time for her to show up. Why? For now, this is going to remain a mystery…
The appearance by Booth’s mother now does show that the series is setting up some sort of endgame for itself; while we already know that the show is coming back for a ninth season, this is the time in which the producers have to start coming up with ideas as to what sort of storylines they want to make sure that they tell before the show comes to a close. Considering that this is the finale (and it is during the ratings-crucial May sweeps), what better time is there for the show to introduce a character like this and to get Booth thinking about his past? It will certainly be interesting to see not just how he reacts to this, but how Brennan tries to help him get through this.
