‘Mad Men,’ ‘Parks and Recreation’ stars take in annual Vanity Fair Oscars party
If you are a celebrity in Hollywood not at the Academy Awards, odds are that you are probably at one of two places: the Elton John viewing party, or the event hosted by Vanity Fair (which continues past the Oscars, and is often attended by a number of the stars in attendance at the event).
So who were some of the attendees of the two parties this year? While such names as Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries” attended the Elton John event, the likes of Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”), Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation” and host of the Golden Globes), Poehler’s co-star Rashida Jones, and “New Girl” actress Zooey Deschanel. While TV stars have their own awards show to celebrate in the Emmys, the Oscars are an opportunity for them to not only promote some of their own properties, but to also support their friends and family working on major motion pictures.
For many of these actors, the Oscars also comes as a necessary filming break. Every single actor that we mentioned above is currently in production of a new season of TV, and they are actually taking time out to attend these parties when they could otherwise be sleeping. While it’s certainly understandable why anyone would want to attend an A-list party, it is still not something that everyone wants to deal with in between the photographers and the media analyzing their every move. Some have used this event to their advantage: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, for example, used the Vanity Fair party to first confirm their relationship.
