2013 Oscars: Where to watch a live stream of the red carpet

OscarsIt doesn’t really matter if you are in America or anywhere else in the world: the Academy Awards are one of the most-talked-about events of the entire year. This is the biggest celebration of celebrity in the world, where high fashion is studied like art and where moments happen that people talk about at the watercooler for weeks on end.

It also happens to be the show that can either make or break celebrities. Have you heard much about Billy Crystal since his show last year was deemed boring? The answer here is probably “no,” and James Franco is also just now getting back on his feet after looking largely disinterested during the 2011 show. Suffice it to say, Seth MacFarlane has his work cut out for him.

So where can you check out some of the pre-show action online? Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time, E! is going to be offering their stream live from the red carpet here, and this to us is the most comprehensive one out of any on TV. Does the network still employ that ridiculous Mani-Cam? Yes, but you aren’t going to find as thorough a look at fashion anywhere else. Plus, last year you saw Ryan Seacrest get pelted with ashes from Sacha Baron Cohen as the Dictator. You know that he wouldn’t have done that to just some everyday reporter on the red carpet.

The Oscar telecast itself will kick off shortly after the 8:00 p.m. introduction, and is likely to be one of the most-watched events of the year for ABC. With most of its audience in America being of the affluent variety, it is also one of the biggest gets for advertisers save for NFL football.

Be sure to check back throughout the night, as we will have more about the Academy Awards through the perspective of TV. We’ll be updating our stories at this tag.
