NBC’s ‘The Office’ season 9 spoilers: Dwight faces off against new adversary
There may be no new episode of “The Office” on Thursday night thanks to a certain “Parks and Recreation” wedding, but we do still have some interesting news to share when it comes to the final season of the NBC comedy: Dwight Shrute is still set to square off against a new enemy.
According to a new report from TVLine, former “Sopranos” star Michael Imperioli is set to guest-star in an upcoming episode filming this week as Sensei Billy, a local dojo owner who starts to become irritated when Rainn Wilson’s character tries to take over rather than embrace many of his teaching methods. We imagine there will be friction here as a result, and also Dwight probably trying to act almost like he is much more of an imposing physical threat than he really is.
This situation will create what is one of many entertaining situations on the show moving forward for Dwight, as we are also going to see later this season the episode that was originally entitled to be the backdoor pilot “The Farm.” Since this show was not picked up to series, there has been some re-tooling done behind the scenes in order to ensure that this can still work as an episode that fits into the larger arc of “The Office.” The other good news about this pilot not being picked up (though probably the only good news) is that it leaves open the possibility now for a Dwight / Angela endgame, as she was not originally set to be a cast member on “The Farm” by most estimations.
What do you think about Imperioli’s casting? If you want to see some of what Wilson is being courtesy for now that “The Farm” is dead, be sure to check out the story over at the link here.
